I know what you mean. My gf won't consider getting Anything besides Apple because she is so sucked into the ecosystem with her IPhone and Mac. She even acknowledges the issues Apple has, but doesn't seem to care.
This is one of the reasons I don't care much for the Apple ecosystems. Too closed off and limiting in choice.

The $500 million cost has only been a rumor floating around. I'm sure the game hasn't been cheap to make, but there is nothing to prove the $500M development cost is real.
The contractors are there to help with finishing the game before launch. I imagine Sperasoft will help with post launch content like how Splash Damage helped with past Halo games.

A year sub of xbox live Gold was $60. Tying it to gamepass would make it $120 a year. That is double, and double what PSplus users pay. It was be dumb af for Xbox to require gamepass or require Ulimate which is $180 a year.

I agree. It's a bad practice no matter who does it. If it was up to me, 3rd party deals would only be for marketing and nothing else.
I'm not a fan of full timed exclusive games like The Medium for Xbox and Timeloop for Playstation, but at least when the game releases on the other platform, it's not missing any content.
