Technically it lost that feature with the launch of the new slim, although no one noticed the lack of it back then.....
Without trying to sound disrespectful, but the fact you don't own an iPhone sort of makes your idea of a 'major revamp to the OS' sound a little strange. I'm sure you've played with one (who hasn't) but do you really think it needs such a change without using one on a daily bases? At the end of the day, it's OS is part of the reason it's been so successful!
I don't own an iPhone either, but do have the iPod Touch which uses the same OS and I think it's perfect for the main market...

Also, I don't think it's possible to get every single feature without buying like 3 options - which obviously is stupid. They need to look at the option breakdown better to focus on the type of things they're offering.

I sure hope there is a mistake with just one premium theme, no free ones and also no avatars? This is surely an opportunity missed with the new firmware 3.0 and everyone wanting to try out the new animated themes? I know I would have bought a few...

No power block :) I wonder if that section on the front right is where you can upgrade the hard drive? Where all the logos are. Certainly looks like it comes off.
I'd probably agree that the Pre looks to be a better product on paper, and that it deserves a higher rating - it certainly seems to have the better specs.
However, as a consumer, and not as a techy, it's the support which the iPhone receives which would sway me to buying that instead. Whether that support is in apps, or accessories, or anything, it seems to get the most recognition from third parties.

I have to agree with 360 above me. The main selling point of the iPhone (for me at least) is that app store, followed very closely by the software and ease of use.
Until other manufacturers create something similar which catches as many major companies creating apps for it, I can see the iPhone maintaining it's advantage.
