You count months here not year,
Typical Sony AAA release Oct-Nov
GoY reveal vs ACS release = 4 months diff
ACS release vs GoY release = 8 months
That's the distance they'll leverage
And there's usually no big SoPs in January
Well they're delaying it to Feb 2025 compared to the usual late 2025 for Sony AAA ... so ample time to distance from GoY reveal hype but also releasing much earlier.
And they can't change much within a span of few months ... all they can do is minor tweaks and squash bugs (à la Suicide squad delay)
Can all be coincidence... but can also be predictive.
No HUD afaik ... pushing more player discovery
Star Wars Outlaws should've released on Nov
And this next year's Aug or something
smh ...
Whoa .... good thing they'll use the time to focus on polishing but imho, actually, they want to avoid any comparisons with and distance it from Ghost of Yotei's reveal.
" full on remaster (almost remake level) " ~ are rare ... things like Dead Rising and Halo 2 ... and not the norm
Nightdive have been getting praises for their Remaster releases and all are of similar vain to soul reaver ... same goes for Crystal Dynamics's other recent IP Remaster, Tomb Raider or even Beyond Good and Evil and so on, so forth
lol
the most easiest predication of seeing a big fat 'no-buy/upgrade signboard' "from a mile away".
edit : oooh ... look below
yea, might be ... kinda fits the parameters doesn't it? ...
well not labelled a remaster but is still getting graphics overhaul & is a mixed reviewed from just 2020 ... hence fitting into 'less-impressive'
I've got a feeling a similar Tsushima Remaster's also in the works/planned, i.e in similar fashion using the engine upgrade from Yotei's.
I say this coz that's kinda been Sony's execution this gen ... with Spider-Man, then Last of Us and now HZD.
"sliders" .... /s
:P
sorry-had-to
Soul reaver getting a remaster is far from less-impressive ... its actually opposite and that's actually the point of remastering, breathing new life to old games, which are either locked to old consoles or broken on PC ... and even Grubb knows that, or else he's an idiot
The trailer initially tricked me into thinking it was Control 2 announcement.
The game's not looking that bad ... just consider this as a Dragon Age spinoff and not directly related Origins and maybe the perception becomes better?
What about PC HZD owners?
lol, the long-leaked inevitable remaster announcement ... Grubb said he heard another less-impressive remaster ... guess it got pushed back?
hah ... wasn't too far off in my above comment, lol
Feel bad for AC Shadows honestly ... after all the hatred its been getting and getting compared to GoT .. and now its got GoY, not just with a mere CG reveal trailer but with proper gameplay, eating into its pre-release PR as well as post release content update/support well into 2025 and beyond.
After all these years & demand .... an AC game set in Japan and it's got the toughest competition even before its release.

Kinda liking the original in some scenes
IMHO, they shouldn't have remastered it and kept the original's style ... it has its own unique charm ... the first game was not build with the new lighting system in mind.
For PC players, since Nixxes is handling this time, the upgrade might be worth it purely from performance pov.
