I don't think it was Sony that created the character but the ad company behind the commercial. The Kevin Butler ads have done wonders for Sony's PS3 so it's no surprise they'd ask them to do the same for the PSP.
It's a shame Marcus isn't that great of a character but I think the way the actor plays the character also has something to do with it. Either way I think Sony should be more careful when approving ads. I'm assuming Sony gets to check out ...
I think what it means is that while there were other companies making games consoles before (and after) Sony entered the games industry gaming as a whole was seen to be something just for kids.
Sony's Playstation brand has helped to increase the number of people who play games and has helped to make games become a form of entertainment that can be enjoyed by everyone and not just kids.

It might actually work against him to have one hour trials of his games. If it's not what he's been hyping the game to be then people will be less likely to purchase.

The idea behind trying an hour of the final product is the same as that of a demo which is to allow you to try the product before you buy and not all demos are just 15 mins long.
One hour trials work for download only games which can be downloaded relatively quickly. The same isn't true for full retail games since most people wouldn't want to download huge amounts of data that they may not be playing through and a lot of people have download limits which is a big fact...
I think this is to entice people into purchasing PS+. If people think it'll be like this every month then they'll probably sign up for a year which makes more money for Sony.
I doubt it'll be like this every month and think that some people will be setting themselves up for disappointment as usual.

Yeah I would too and I'm surprised it's not on the list.
I have a funny feeling there are going to be people who will play KZ3's multiplayer for a while and then go back to KZ2's multiplayer if it's too much like CoD. I really like the controls as they are and for me it's one of the things that makes KZ2 stand out from all the other shooters.

Have you forgotten that Sony is a tech giant that's in business to sell all kinds of entertainment tech like TVs, BR Players, Hi-Fis etc? Of course they're trying to sell TVs and since 3D is so popular these days it makes perfect sense to try and capitalise on it which doesn't really affect us gamers since we will always have the option to play in 2D is we so wish.
I remember reading somewhere that it's 1280x1080 too but that's still 1080p considering the 1080 represents the number of pixels displayed vertically. It's just not as wide an image as true 1080p but that's during gameplay. Replay resolution is 1440x1080.

I was thinking of the same thing the other week but not sure if it would work all that well since you'd have to have an analogue stick and all the other buttons on each controller which is operated using just one hand.

It's an MMO so there's not much you can do about the way the combat works. All the calculations are done server side which is why it seems a little disconnected if you know what I mean.
The problem with Konami's poor implementation though is that most people who don't like it will likely blame PSN like my friends do. They're die hard MGS fans but they blame the online issues on PSN which reflects negatively on Sony through word of mouth even though it's not actually Sony's fault.
It's great that Sony allows it but I think they should keep and eye on it and make sure developers do a decent job.
The lack of challenge and lots of hand holding is exactly what's wrong with most games these days which is why this game is so great because believe it or not people like a breath of fresh air once in a while.
The iPhone has always been overpriced so I don't think Sony would have too much trouble making it cheaper.
No it wasn't but Apple started pushing gaming on iPhone which seems to be doing pretty well when it comes to gaming on the go.
edit: TBH I'd prefer PSP2 to just be a proper handheld console instead of a phone hybrid. The iPhone works well due to it's lack of physical buttons and size but the PSP2 would need to have buttons for gaming which would increase it's size making it less suited for phone use.

I wouldn't let his reaction to a 3D game affect my decision in buying a 3DTV. It looked to me like he was overacting.
