First off let me start off by saying I think BC is a good feature. Preferably natively but emulation would be good as well. With that said I’m not going to pretend that it’s an easy task and isn’t costly. Unlike the Xbox, PlayStations run on different architectures (for better or worse) so they would either need multiple emulators or an emulator that can run different platforms; and unlike Microsoft, Sony doesn’t have the capital to be reckless, therefore they have to manage things better. So...

That logic is dumb, and can be applied to any game. Take out ray tracing, lower the resolution, lower the frames, use lower res textures, etc. and BAAM any next gen game is now a PS3/Xbox 360 game. Wait, let’s take out more features and make them PS2/OG Xbox games. The purpose of a next gen game is to utilize features not possible in prior generations. In the case of Spider-Man, it’s utilizing ray tracing and the SSD of the PS5 among other things, in order ...

Spider-Man: Miles Morales has ray tracing, so you are incorrect in saying it could run on PS4, nice try though. Selling points for the Series X are also selling points for other platforms. Whether it’s next gen games like The Medium and Scorn that can also be played on PC, or cross gen titles that are also coming to XB1, or next gen multiplats which are coming to PS5. There really isn’t a single game that requires a Series X to play, for better or worse.

That’s because Microsoft barely released quality titles with standard, and even extended (see Crackdown 3), development times. I don’t know if it’s due to poor management by Microsoft or the talent of their studios (or both), but a lot of their games just seem sub par from a AAA standpoint. That’s why when Phil announced he wanted to release games every 3-4 months people got the impression he was more concerned with quantity (fluff) than quality. Two recent games Sony released were TLoU2 and ...

I'm sure there are people that want to collect the novelty items and wouldn't mind having the game itself digital. However, people shelling out top dollar for collectors edition mostly like to collect physical items, that would also include a physical copy of the game. If they offered both options then I wouldn't see this as an issue. The purpose of collecting is to have something physically, because there is value in the physical item. This will definitely turn off most collector...

Doesn't Epic treat developers differently regarding their store front? I recall reading articles about games being denied on the Epic Store (and thus the potential higher profit margins due to the Epic agreement on profit splits) for the developer refusing exclusivity. Seems like these indie developers are being treated differently than developers that accept Epic's agreements, as well as AAA publishers. Seems like Epic has no right to complain about Apple ...

TLoU 2 has been out about two months and has almost 140000 user reviews (most of which were out literally an hour after the game launched and we're a bunch of zero scores which is suspect). Halo 5 has been out for almost 5 years and has a little over 3000 users reviews. If the number of user reviews TLoU 2 has and when they were posted doesn't indicate something suspicious to you then I don't know what to think about your deductive skills. Consider th...

A Sony exec called it an expansion (as in add on DLC), but Insomniac corrected that statement by confirming it was a standalone title with a new protagonist, new story, new enemies, and new gameplay features.

@thesoftware730

Your comment is asinine. Insomniac already released three DLCs for Spider-Man in 2018 (revolving around Peter Parker and characters in his story), are you insinuating they completed four DLCs and de...

@ thesoftware730

If it's DLC of an old game, how are you able to play it without owning the old game? Maybe because, as Insomniac has stated, it's a stand alone title (not an expansion). Do you not know the difference between DLC (as in additional content) and a stand alone title that can be played by itself, with its own characters and story? Honest question.

I considered Spider-man for PS4 amazing, so yes, I would also consider Spider-man: Miles...

Such a powerful console and not a single one of their games have been shown running on one. They seem to be having trouble converting all that power into quality next gen games. But they got you covered if you want to play a thousand past gen games (even though their current gen console can play those same games, so I'm not sure how that's a selling point of a next gen console).

You left out the last part of the quote which was “but it is ultimately the right move”. That sounds like the author is defending the decision and trying to make this out to be a good thing, which he does not know if the delay is a good thing. Not every delay automatically results in a quality game (I.e. Crackdown 3). So there is no way for the author to know if delaying the game was the right decision. It’s quite possible the delay can have an adverse effect,...

Actually he is wrong. The PS3 I bought at launch had the ability to play PS2 games (there are about 4500 PS2 games) and also PS1 games (about 3000 games). So even when Microsoft is using backwards compatibility to fluff their launch line up, they are lying about having the largest console launch lineup ever because PlayStation 3 is a thing.

The AMD 7970 came out in 2012 and is a lot stronger than the GPU in the Xbox One. Not to mention the CPUs in those old PCs are most likely a lot stronger than the CPU in the Xbox One. The AMD 4890HD came out in 2009 and had similar processing power to the GPU in the Xbox One. Point is PC gamers are not going into next gen with 1.8 Tflop GPUs and CPUs equivalent to the jaguar processors.

The Xbox One came out in 2013, and at the time equivalent PC parts had already been out for years. You are saying 10+ year old CPUs and GPUs will be able to handle next gen games, and that developers are going to be making games optimized for these components?

You named 17 games, 6 were available with a few months (3 are Microsoft IPs so obviously day one). That leaves 11 games available on Gamepass years after release. So your claim of playing almost all the games you listed within a few months of release is false.

Dishonored 1&2 available on Gamepass 3 and 7 years after release. Three Yakuza games available on Gamepass 3-4 years after release. Final Fantasy XV available on Gamepass 3 years a...

That’s the problem with you Xbox fans, you take small samples and try to apply them as larger solutions. In the three years Gamepass has been out you named two big AAA games released on Gamepass shortly after launch, out of the dozens upon dozens that have been released. Just two. So because less than a handful of AAA third party games were released shortly after launch, that give you hope that AAA publishers will somehow start releasing their big games on Gamepass a f...

You’re trying to insult someone’s intelligence, yet misspelled “stopped” and used “then” instead of “than”. I’m sorry if you can’t comprehend basic math, or don’t understand the value of a product or service should be based on its suggested retail price and not it’s giveaway prices (otherwise that’s basically saying it’s not worth the MSRP).

If people are going out buying AAA games at retail cost that means they want to play them as soon as possible. Subscribing to Gamepass isn't going to benefit them because most of those AAA titles that they would spend money on aren't going to be available on launch. You are kidding yourself if you think big AAA games from third party publishers are going to be available on Gamepass day one, even Assassin's Creed isn't available on Gamepass day one and they have a deal with Mic...

So the recommendation is to save up to buy a better TV, but not apply that logic to the console? Wouldn’t it be better to save up for the Series X, which you can still use on a 1080 TV. Then save up for a 4K TV? Why buy a Series S to play on a 1080 TV, then save for a 4K TV, then buy a Series X to take advantage of the 4K TV. That doesn’t make sense as it’s an additional purchase. If you intend to stay at 1080p and don’t mind potentially worse performance (as the generation progresses develop...
