That's definitely part of it, otherwise it wouldn't be news (one would hope) but I really wish they gave more details.
As a point of reference Immortals of Aveum used a base rez of 720p with a 60fps target (rarely met) while using nanite and lumen on UE5.1.

Hopefully they can make some good strides on nanite optimization soon. Last I checked it wastes a lot of processing because of overdraw, making it wildly expensive.
S was made for a time where they saw how expensive the hobby was getting and supply lines were stressed.
Seeing as S is a good percentage of Series sales, it wasn't a bad call, it's also helped keep optimization a little more in line. However I still pose that the RAM should not have been smaller than the X.
As far as I've seen it's largely the limited RAM that makes the S troublesome for most games. There's really just a few edge cases where the GPU is a real sticking point, otherwise games generally just have to turn down the rez and RT, RAM permitting. CPU being the same in both S and X.
I don't know the specifics but I keep hearing they are not only difficult to collaborate with but difficult just to get a game on the platform. Recent example being Enotria: The Last Song specifically calling out how they were essentially ignored.
They seem to not have a good line of communications or process for getting games onto the system, which is fundamentally one of the most base level things they NEED to get right.
Oh yeah! 2 is a coincidence, but I suppose the DLC makes it 3 for a pattern.

This is a humorous jab and a compliment. Horizon keeps going up against some of the heaviest hitters of all gaming-time and still is a success. I myself bough both games at launch. I like them. They're pretty cool.
Right. They want something new but familiar. Having any expectations is really just a no-win trap.
As someone who really liked the first game, and bought the second at launch. I've kinda lost much care about it. It is a lot and there's other massive games I'd rather sink into. It's general loop is fun and graphically it's unbelievable, so there is part of me that wants to go back. I'd rather see something new from Guerrilla, same with Naughty Dog.
Question is which massively anticipated game is it going to launch against this time? Breath of the Wild with the first, and Elden Ring with the second. I don't know how this series has survived when it keeps doing this.
It's true. I like me some Ubisoft games, but I know they don't take long to go on sale. Sometimes 3 months or less.

I doubt HIGHEST but only cause the game can scale so high. Nevertheless, higher RT settings. The game at lowest settings already uses some RT in the first place.
