If the game is great, people will buy it. Also, if developers give fans what they want out of a single player game, it will be successful. It's when developers like Dice, take a cult classic like Mirror's Edge, and they go and change the formula, and then they wonder why the game didn't score well or sell well. The same goes for Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Developers are their own worst enemies. Another example of developer malpractice, but in this case it's wit...
You're right, my bad. It actually went up against CoD: WaW, which was still a really tough game for Far Cry 2 to go up against, especially with the fact that WaW had just introduced Zombies.
I love Far Cry 2. I've played it on PS3 and PC, and now I'm going to play it again on Xbox One. Even though the multiplayer for this game wasn't very polished when it released, it was actually one of the most fun games to play back then. If it hadn't gone head to head with CoD4 when it launched during that holiday season, it probably would have been much more popular. It'll be interesting to see how populated the servers will be after the BC release :)
Great response, thank you!
This is certainly a touchy subject. It will be very interesting to see what the longtime fans of the series think of these changes.
I like digital purchases for games for various reasons, but I would never want to see the physical option be taken away. We certainly need legal rules surrounding maintaining access to a digital library of individually purchased games without a subscription, proper return/refund policies enshrined in law, and something that legally guarantees that the digital games that you have purchased, will be unlocked if the service that you are using decides to get out of the video game business or if t...
I really don't get how costs keep supposedly going up, it doesn't make sense.
A. Anyone can download Unreal Engine 4, Cryengine, Source and Unity for free in todays age, paying royalties only after you hit a certain sales threshold.
B. Game engines are easier to use than they ever have been in the past. Game developers always come out on promo videos when a new engine launches, talking about how a task that used to take a team of 10 people, 10 yea...
I'm with you on that 100%.
Maybe we'll see this in the Microsoft Store on XOne?
The Division should never have been allowed to include the Tom Clancy namesake, as it is a complete disgrace to the Tom Clancy franchise. As far as Destiny goes, people should have been smart enough to avoid Destiny 2 after getting hosed on the first game. No real story telling, boring open world, all you do is grind for equipment and it had a very limited amount of content at launch. Both games are complete garbage IMO.

PS Now requires a subscription, and more than 1/2 of the games on the service are not included in the cost of the subscription. These games cannot be purchased for ownership. PS Now games are also streamed, so it really doesn't count, and don't forget, some of those games are already PS4 games, while others may have been remastered for the PS4. Lets also not forget the lower visual quality of streamed games.
I should also mention, ...
I personally don't like being treated like a lab rat, so yes, the research is an issue. What ever happened to just making games that have a great storyline and that are fun to play? #getbacktobasics
I think most people do get it, but like me, they make their choice based on the games they like and based on what their friends like to play, as you rightly pointed out. I know quite a few people who game on PS4, and none of them buy the 'niche' games that we are talking about, so they could conceivably be playing on an Xbox One, and never know the difference.
But you are right about the diversity of games. That diversity comes in the form of Japanese games, which m...
They do have more games in their library when you take into consideration the more than 400 backwards compatible games, which keeps growing all the time.
I don't think Microsoft should worry about 'winning' console sales this generation. That train has already left the station. However, I hope they keep doing their own thing, such as the Play Anywhere program, Backwards Compatibility, and continuing to refine Xbox Live, by continuing to add features like they did with the Xbox Beta app, which allows you to join a party and talk to people on your cell phone, and other things of that nature.
If the news that Micros...
I have zero confidence in EA at this point in time. No need to get hyped by any of their games, no matter the franchise. Even if they were to announce Battlefield: Bad Company 3, or a proper Mass Effect 4 game, I wouldn't even think about buying these, until after release, and I watch some gameplay or see some reviews. The quality from most large developers has been going down hard, especially since the Xbox One/PS4 generation launched.
People with small hands always gotta be putting out that hate!
Your hands were probably pretty small back then, but you've grown up, so you should do ok.
I'll be picking up a couple of these. Pretty cool stuff!
This game is DOA. The only think Konami can do at this point, and still remain relevant in the video game industry, would be to remaster MGS 1, 2, 3, 4 & Peace Walker for current and next gen consoles. Outside of this happening, they're as good as done.
