Rise of the Tomb Raider is a demanding game on PC but Xbox One X does not turn in better performance than a decent AIB midrange video card like a GTX1060 or RX580 on the code we have seen thus far. Both these cards can max the game at 1080p and run it solid 60FPS with a decent CPU. X1X cannot.
At 4K these cards cannot sustain 30FPS at these highest settings. But then as we have just seen, X1X code does not achieve 30FPS either and it runs at lower settings. If you lower the...

I'll quote you directly from this one month old article.
"The native 4K mode is indeed impressive as Rise of the Tomb Raider remains a highly demanding game on the PC. Granted, the level of detail is pushed back compared to the PC version"
"we're lookin...
According to digital foundry X1X does not have the highest settings displayed on PC on Rise of the Tomb Raider. I.e less than 'high'. On the code they have tested achieves neither 30FPS solidly at 4K nor 60FPS at 1080p mode.
Gears of War 4 does ok at 4K but it will forever be locked to 30FPS, whereas the 1080p mode does not achieve 60FPS again. Something easily managed on a midrange PC.
Forza 7 on X1X according to DF does not have the quality of a...
Do you think The Witcher 3 will run with all effects at the highest level of PC? Tomb Raider and Gears of War and Forza 7 have demonstrated they don't match everything perfectly on Xbox One X, and they don't always hold onto their framerate either.
GTX1070 offers a better experience than X1X on The Witcher despite it not technically being a high end card, AND it's 18 months old. You read that right, 18 months ago you could have been playing all these games in 4...
Every new more powerful console closes the gap to high end PC. It narrows it to a smaller gap than existed before. But it never entirely closes it.
Then 6 months later PC widens the gap again. Which widens once more every 12-18 months consistently with new GPU generations until after about 2 years it's restored a large disparity.
This is called every console generation ever.
6 months time Nvidia will deliver a new series of graphics...
Emulation. Try and play Zelda on your Xbox One X. You can on a gaming PC.....
PC and PS4 is the best gaming combination. No point getting an Xbox One if you have a decent gaming PC. Most of it's games are on PC. It does a hundred times as much as Xbox One X. Xbox One X is extremely expensive for just basically being a games machine and bluray player, which in the age of streaming media is virtually obsolete. It's not comparable to a PC which will do so many more tasks than Xbox One X, have a much brighter future and a much longer list of backwards compatible ti...
A $500 console will be outdated and obsolete within 2-3 years at the rate new consoles are now getting released. The entire machine will be binnable in terms of having the best multiplats. At least with the right PC platform you can upgrade increments like the GPU. In a year you'll swap in a new GPU twice as fast as Xbox One X and again you'll be there smug as it destroys X1X on 4K games.
Perhaps I shall buy you a dictionary for Christmas Black0ut so you can look up what the word obsession means and use at a more appropriate time.
No but you can on a PS4 in that combination since it isn't an exclusive to Xbox One.
Xbox One X and a good PC is a bizarre combination, they play all the same games. PS4 and PC is much better
Project Code Shift isn't exactly some mind blowing technical tour de force if we're honest. It's a 2D indie hack and slash. Is it on anything other than Xbox One X and PC? They don't have the resources to put it on anything else is what I read. Tiny team and budget.
Strange how they are talking about the hardware like they are pushing it to the limit, I expect this kind of talk more from teams with big budget titles.
The game can run 60FPS on even a mediocre PC whereas no matter what console you play it on, it'll be 30FPS. That's all you need to know.
You'll get it on console and in 2 years when you change to another it won't work again. I kept this game for over a decade and played it several times on the same machine.
Currently works in 4K I played KOTOR 2 in 4K lol. PC backwards compatibility FTW
Could just pick it up on PC. It'll run on integrated laptop graphics these days. Rafts of mods available, including HD widescreen resolutions and also get controller support if you absolutely must (it's better with keyboard and mouse anyway!)
It's a mid range PC. Performance with comparable quality settings about the same as an AIB Radeon RX580 or Geforce GTX1060 in the games and examples I have seen so far, mid range graphics cards.
Forza 7: 4K 60FPS. Gears of War 4: 1080p 60FPS or 4K 30. Killer instinct: 4K 60FPS. Tomb Raider: 4K unstable 30FPS or 1080 unstable 60FPS. None of these demonstrate performance or settings significantly better than what those mid range video cards have proven capable of deliveri...
"How many laptops are there in the world that could legitimately run this game very well with this emulator?"
A lot? It works in Windows and WINE.
You don't need a monster system to do this, since Wii U was never a fast console even when it was brand new 5 years ago. If you want 4K then yeah, have something fast but if you just want the 720p that Switch manages undocked then it's not difficult.....
'Emulation is not illegal' Isn't an excuse. It doesn't need excusing. It's a statement of fact.
It is amazing and fantastic you can run this Switch game so well on a half decent PC. I have ran it on my PC and it's already better than running it on a real Switch on a TV, especially a 4K one.
There is more than can be improved in the emulation but the fact is the game is now perfectly playable and able to be completed, in another 6 ...
GT sport is a Gran Turismo game without a Gran Turismo mode.
For someone who has been a fan since day one, that's nuts
Welcome to tiny taste of the advantages PC gamers have lived since the dawn of time and have with every game, instead of a handful of patched ones. Apparently this doesn't run 60FPS on Xbox One X, despite it being 10 years old and still effectively only running X360 settings, which were well below the highest on PC anyway!
I actually expected a bit more. You could easily easily do better than this on an average PC 5 years ago. Still, it's a nice enough small bonus I...
