Early adopters should NOT be rewarded; all that does is cater to this whole instant gratification and silver-platter treatment that gamers these days are so used to, and are even demanding in cases such as the 3DS.
Remember when the iPhone price dropped initially, and Apple fans shit themselves with anger because they bought it for more? Yeah, that's exactly what most gamers are acting like today.
Everyone except Microsoft, apparently. :P
Personally, I think it was destined to fail... the Virtual Boy was trying to tell Nintendo 3D can't be successful so many years ago!
Oh yes, let's go by what the public knows and base our assumptions off of that. :)
Clearly, the new consoles ARE being worked on and the software is still hush-hush.
I personally expect my Xbox 720 to feature an ice cream machine.
Elaborately bigot response, so let me point out a few flaws in regards to how you're stupidly critiquing the author.
First, that's ALPHA footage of MULTIPLAYER. Those graphics are FAR from final, and MULTIPLAYER visuals are always less than the campaign. Do some research.
Nextly, a good pc CAN play those, no problem. Watch your wording.
Lastly, a LAUNCH TITLE? HA! You're so silly. Know what a launch title looked like, most likely...
@powerofcell Clearly, you are trolling. Your arguments are laughable.

There are screens at the bottom of the article. :)
It would appear so, but hey, nostalgia sells.
Oh no, look at me talking about a game from six years ago as "nostalgia"...
Yep. This announcement, though, probably wasn't greeted with groans, sighs and laughter.
This really is great news.
As the author said, it'll help the many who forget to configure Steam properly before they make the trip.
Haha, well more around nine months. And in all respect, it's the best out of all three.
But, it's still excellent.
Interesting article.
I remember seeing sales statistics showing that the 3DS is selling better than the PSP and Gamecube did at their respective launches, even the N64. Even though these are vastly different times, it shows the system isn't doing BAD.
The Mercenaries was entertaining, but Revelations looks to be great.
QuakeCon is one of the greatest events in gaming, hands-down.
Precisely. Everyone certainly has something to say, and this is a great opportunity to join a cool site.
Well, the first one really was TWO gens ago (2000). :)
It took a lot of patience and was revolutionary for the time period.
This one is sort of melding that feel into modern styles, but successfully. It looks fantastic!
Definitely. And it's coming out at a perfect time too; ending the summer and basically kicking off the holiday season!
Very good write-up; definitely got me more excited for this excellent game!
It's tiring because a lot of attendees can't afford the hotel! It's common to see them passed out in the BYOC, around various pieces of furniture in the hotel, and even outside, hehe.
I had a friend that stayed up from Friday morning to Sunday morning at the 2010 event. It was ridiculous.
