I think so. I wouldn't keep buying them if I thought otherwise. I'm betting the consumer base as a whole wouldn't either.

@DarXyde

"No real justification for the price hike"?

It's been six years since PS Plus started. Do you know what happened in those six years? Inflation. Your money was worth less every year, but the price of PS Plus remained the same.

This is a pretty basic business principal. A company keeps the price of a service the same for several years, and then increases the price of that service later to balance out inflation, and...

I think we need to define anti-consumer. Consumers keep buying into these practices. If consumers didn't buy into them, the practices wouldn't be profitable, and would cease.

Can we really call them anti-consumer practices if the consumers vote in favor of them?

Clearly there is enough of a demand for HD remakes to make the practice profitable.

If the demand is there, then why shouldn't the developers supply what their fans want? Meeting a demand is just good business.

I never played BioShock Infinite, and I am happy to run through BioShock and BioShock 2 again, so there is value in the collection for me and many like me. Frankly I am glad that HD remakes are a thing. If you don't like it, then don't ...

There are enough opportunities, escalation contracts, and featured contracts to give plenty of play time to each episode.

By waiting, you have missed 9 elusive targets so far.

What needed to be figured out? The price of the Ultimate Edition isn't exactly a secret.

Console gamers care more about the games than the console specs. If the opposite were true, they would just game on PC. That is first order logic. Even a mid-range PC exceeds the power of any console.

With that in mind, the specs have always been secondary to games anyway, so the power shift won't matter. It might give fanboys something to brag about, but it won't have a significant effect in and of itself. It will take games to make a difference.

The author's premise is flawed. Console gamers wouldn't be console gamers if their priority was power. The games have always been the deciding factor in the console market. Sony has been bringing the games since the PS1 launched.

They didn't have the power advantage during the PS2 era, and the Wii didn't have the power advantage during its era. If you get past "the Cell" marketing, I don't think the PS3 really has a significant (if any) power ...

Bamboozled? Holy lack of common sense Batman. This is the first price increase in 6 years. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp. A company sets a price for a service, and despite inflation, leaves the price the same for several years, and then it increases the price of the service to recover the money lost from not increasing the price annually. That is a basic business principal.

Inflation is a thing. Approximately $5.19 of the $10 increase just balances the inflat...

I don't care about the Scorpio being better. The Pro offers me a better PlayStation experience, and I have a gaming rig for Xbox games anyway.

The Xbox was more powerful than the PS2. That didn't seem to stop the PS2 from being one of the greatest consoles ever.

I'm pretty indifferent on the matter. I'm just going to give my current PS4 to my niece when I upgrade.

If it takes you 100 hours to realize that you don't like a game, does it matter? You must have been entertained for those 100 hours, or you would have realized that you didn't like it earlier. If you are entertained for 100 hours then you got your money's worth.

You are using the wrong pronoun. You can only speak for yourself. Every year people claim that the upcoming COD game isn't what the fans want, and every year the fans buy it in droves. If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times: Consumers vote with their wallets.

I don't think it "needs" to take a step backward, though you may want it to. People seem to be embracing futuristic warfare.

If you are a practicing lawyer, and you believe there is a case against Activision, then why don't you sue them?

The problem I have with the "somebody should do something" statements is that the person who makes the statement is somebody.

If you are ready to jump on board with a class action lawsuit, then you should be willing to start one. Waiting around for someone else to take the initiative is pretty weak.

I don't care. Exclusivity deals are part of the business. Im still waiting to play Rise of the Tomb Raider, and I will be waiting to play Dead Rising 4.

I fully expect the console manufacturers to engage in third-party exclusivity deals. It's just business. It's more than a little annoying that people are still complaining about it. It's the same tired conversation over and over again.

I really don't care. Pixels are not people. They neither have nor deserve rights. Developers should have the creative freedom to create whatever they want. If it's offensive, then throw an AO rating on it and call it a day. If it offends enough people, then they will vote with their wallets and the developers won't make any money, but they should have the freedom to make it, so long as it doesn't victimize an actual person.

It's worth noting that approximately $5.18 of the $10 increase just balances the inflation that has occurred since PS Plus started in June 2010. That effectively makes the increase $4.82 per year. That is about 1.3 cents per day. It's so insignificant that I just can't be bothered to care about it.
