My point is that the Nintendo crowd probably wouldn’t buy in to the card packs enough to justify the development cost. Blizzard doesn’t benefit from people playing a free game unless they are getting microtransacton revenue from it.
Most people who would play the game on the Switch can and probably are already playing it now. Blizzard has little incentive to spend money on development for a Switch version.
Saying that Blizzard refuses to take his money is...
Its a free to play game. Unless you are planning to buy card packs, or are ok with paying retail for a free game, there isn’t any money to take.
“Shatters dreams” is a bit dramatic. I’m sure that the vast majority of Switch players already have a way to play Hearthstone between the PC and mobile devices.
Their potential player base is already pretty high with the PC and mobile markets. Maybe they just don’t see enough value in a Switch release to justify the development cost.
It’s not a great loss for consumers either. I bet most people who would play it on the Switch already have the means to play it now.
I just can't bring myself to play Destiny 2 anymore. I tried during Iron Banner last week and I just can't get into it. I have hit the cap on all my characters and I just can't find the motivation to keep playing the same content for cosmetics.
I’m pretty sure the Steam version of Killer Instinct supports cross-play.
It’s not that much of a buzzkill. The trade off is that the Steam version will have Steam Workshop support, which is better than cross-play in my book.
Button layouts aren't much of a hurdle though. Both the PC and PS4 allow for system-level button remapping.
Requiring an Internet connection doesn’t bother me. It’s 2018; I have a stable Internet connection. I don’t much care for micro-transactions, but I manage to enjoy games despite them.
“Console exclusive” shouldn’t be a term. It’s basically “exclusive if you don’t count this other platform it’s on”. What’s the point of redefining words?
To give you a frame of reference, it took me 89 hours 28 minutes at a decent pace to platinum the game. I have 97% completion. My guess is the Hippodrome races and the Cyrene arena make up the other 3%.
I played this game on the PS2, PS3, Wii, and I’m about halfway through it on PS4. I have it on Steam too. It’s easily one of my favorite games ever.
Xur selling the Prometheus Lens this particular week doesn't mean that his stock isn't random. Randomness means that it was always possible that the Prometheus Lens would be in stock this week. Bungie's response doesn't necessarily mean that they manually altered Xur's inventory this week.
You are paying to play a game which a chance to win with slots and the lottery. You are not paying to play a game with a chance to win with loot boxes. You always get the in-game loot that is promised. You may not get what you wanted, but that doesn't make it gambling any more than Kinder eggs, McDonald's happy meals, or trading card packs are gambling.
Well let's see, video games are luxuries and not necessities, so yes, they are justified in charging whatever they want. No one is going to be harmed in any way if they can't buy something related to gaming. If developers and publishers push the envelope too far then the free market will correct the problem.
You would first have to legally define loot boxes as gambling, and I don't think that is going to happen. For one thing, you never really lose with loot boxes. You always get in-game items. You aren't paying money for the in-game items inside the loot box. You are paying for the loot box. I realize that is a technicality, but it is an important distinction.
The principle is no different than trading card packs. Yes, you can resell any cards you don't want, but t...
Yeah, I am sure the $3.6 Billion (with a B) that Activision-Blizzard made in 2016 on microtransactions hurt them.
It’s true. Enough people buy them to make them profitable, so it’s rational for developers to continue including them. That may be inconvenient to hear, but that is our present reality.
I am not Hindu or Buddhist, so I couldn't care less about Karma. I don't work for any corporation, and I am not wealthy by any stretch of the definition.
I couldn't care less about people who are addicted to video games because I don't care much for addicts in general. I would imagine that people who are addicted to video games represent an insignificant minority of gamers overall anyway.
How are microtransactions affecting you? Again, yo...
I doubt the Switch crowd would spend enough money on the card packs to be worth the development cost. Clearly, Blizzard thinks that too. Most Switch users who would play Hearthstone already have a way to play it now anyway. Console exclusion is not exactly a huge loss for those who want to play it.
