I will be the first to say good job M$ but the only reason Amazon is doing this deal is because they're getting rid of there stock Old 20GB XBOX and bring out the new 20 GB's with HDMI.
Dude do care to explain to why the DVD where what they're today? The PS2 which at the time where the worlds cheapest DVD player when they came out and they help spark interest in DVD. Now tell me again why this is bad for gaming?
So 170K copies for Blu Ray, and 80K for HD DVD and you still think HD DVD stands a chance.. LOL. It's only a matter of time before retail stores begin giving HD DVD the pink slips from there stores. Like most stores you might get lucky and you'll be able to buy HD DVD's from there "online" stores.
What alot of xbox fanboy don't realize is Sony is not only a video game company but they own a whole electronic hardware division. I wouldn't be suprised tp see on black friday Sony having a Sale on the older Bravia TV models where you buy a TV get a free PS3. A Tv and a PS3 for X-mas who you think wins.
Dude and you never should count it out. The same things being said about the PS3 were said about PSX, and PS2. The true test will be the next two holiday seasons and wif Sony plays it's cards right the PS3 could easily past the 360 in sales.
Most of your "Halo" fans have there 360's already, and some of the original XBOX owner had to upgrade because M$ brang a halt to it. Halo may spike the chart for a little bit but not as much as you think.
I wouldn't call the Nintendo & Sony deal a falling out it was more of Nintendo backstabbing. The truth is Nintendo and Sony were working on a console that would have had cartridge and CD slots for games which was too be called "Nintendo Playstation." Nintendo got nervous and felt CD were the way of the future and since the technology was produced by Sony, Sony would be getting the largest share from the console. Please people who gives a sH^*. On the XBOX side halo would be out Sept 25? So if GTA 4 where to come out in mid Oct only couple weeks after halo release really mean anything to you guys?
On the PS3 side this gives Sony time to line there cards up with Killzone expected release of Feb 2008, MGS March, maybe another price cut could before than, and in April GTA 4. That's 3 triple A title back to back.

I think someone said it best when they said "No resale value." I was actually going to download this game from the PS store but after hearing it's going to be $40 I rather wait a couple months until the price comes down, or buy it on disk. I mean no single player mode so really the only time I can play this game is when a friend is over or if I have the internet. Despite it looking fun to play it's a rip off price for the person who downloads the game and doesn't get a headset.
I'm under the impression HD DVD was out first instead of having the lead there playing catch up.
Last I seen 300 is selling more, and be rented more on Blu ray but like you said it must be those stand alone blu ray player. Just keep living in denial as last generation millions and millions of ppls first DVD player was a PS2.

Movies may one day be over the internet but I believe dial up internet still makes up the biggest percentage of internet connections. Until than Blu or HD is goning to be around for some time.
You know what I found funny is you really have no idea of console history. When the PS2 was release DVD market was nearly was 10% with the cheapest DVD player being around $500, and the PS2 help spark interest into DVD with it's price of $300. Now take a trip down memory lane and look at today market DVD has overtaken VHS so before you make your fanboy comment do some research. Sony may forcefeed blu ray on us but it was probably the main reason HD DVD only has one exclusive movie studio....

You can't leave the XBOX alone the truth is if you want to be the winner of this "Console War" you need Japan, and asia support. Japan and other asia countries make up 1/3 of console sales. The days of Sega and Nintendo is a prime example of how Japan plays the big role in the console war. Sega held 52% of lead over Nintendo in NA, EU but it did pi$$ poor in Japan in return lead to Nintendo to sale more consoles than Sega in Worldwide.
