It says in the article it's just the Wii + Wii Sports bundle.
Likely just an inventory clearance. I don't think Nintendo is even making that SKU anymore. And it would render the current SKU obsolete. What's the point of a bundle if you can get the different items included with it for the same as the added price?
$149 Wii + Wii Sports Resort = $199
They would most-likely only be placing the 120 gig systems on clearance until stock is depleted. Retailers would be the ones eating the difference. The difference in production costs between 120 gig and 160 gig HDD is basically non-existent.
Oh God, that Yakuza 3 PS3 is sexy. I would kill for that.
The title is misleading. Incase you didn't actually read it, it's mostly talking about GT5 in a positive light. He just hopes Polyphony takes some lessons from Media Molecule in their post-release support and learns from some of the mistakes of others.
I read another article about this about a week ago. The 'Tempting economical pricepoint' comment for the new models leads me to assume it will recieve a true price cut rather than just a SKU shift. The price of the PS3 in Europe isn't all that economical currently, it costs about 50 pounds and euros more than the 360 slim.
They'll most likely reveal the 160 and 320 gig models and a price cut. Although most likely only for the PAL region. Probably that PSP phone as well. And I would assume an official release date for GT5 in PAL.
PS3 will most likely be flat next week and everything else will be slightly up because of the Obon holiday.
Obviously PS3 will lose a lot once it passes the slim launch but I think people forget that sales naturally start to rise around September anyway. After the 4th post-slim week sales in Japan should be mostly flat and that's right around the time that Move, the SKU shift and a probable PAL price cut will occur. 360 was averaging around 140k in September 2009 and PS3 in 2010 has been consistently out pacing the 360 in 2009. Not to mention that that's when the 360 Arcade had a price hike...
There won't be a price cut in America, just a SKU shift. They'll probably bundle Move with the remaining 120s at $350. Although after reading something interesting recently I wouldn't be surprised to see a PAL price cut.
It's a combination of that and the debut of the white PS3 model as well as the 160 gig and 320 gig models. And I would assume some remaining clearance priced 120s and 250s.
I'm kind of shocked sales were so one-sided for it. I guess the demographic just isn't there on the Wii. Decent opening for Mod Nation, probably around 15k. Hopefully it'll have decent legs like LBP which more than tripled it's first week in Japan.
Those hardware numbers are last weeks, or rather from 2 weeks ago.
Ouch at Dragon Quest. Not even half as much as Swords, which didn't do all that great for a DQ game.
The spike came almost entirely from the new model 15k out of 17k were the new ones.
It's the the second Thursday after the accounting period ends, which is July 3rd. I'm actually rather surprised they're getting it out on time since we just got May's numbers a week and a half ago.
The 40NM chipset PS3 model has been available in Japan for a while. Since the release of the Torne DVR kit I believe.
Thank god PS3 is import-friendly. That's the one PS3 feature that isn't touted nearly enough.
A PS2 game in the top 10. This might be the last time that happens.
In Europe's case quite a good deal since it's only 50 euros more than the standalone 160 gig. But haven't we known about this? I thought pricing was confirmed at Gamescon.
