This article is so shallow. The only reason the author wrote it is because he hasn't played GT5 long enough. He's riding the "IGN said so..." wave and is behind the times.

I'm at level 7 and I've been messing around with the My GT area, settings, GT TV, and special events and racing for my licenses for 12-15 hours. I've been trying to gold all my tests. Got mostly silver and about 25% gold for both A and B. Now doing some Karting and NASCAR. This...

If they report 1.8 MIL, the real number is a bit higher.

Figured they offer a firmware update at some point.

If you liked Everyday Shooter, you might like this game. Except it's more relaxing like Flow.

It's like Everyday Shooter + Lemmings + Flow = Auditorium HD

They don't look like PS2 cars. I told you that in another post. What they are saying is that they look worse than the premium cars so in order to find a comparison they just pull "PS2 like" out of their butts. All you have to do is start comparing Forza 3 cars to the non-premium cars in GT5 side by side and you'll see.

Then, try it with a PS2 car on 480p LDC from GT4. Then, you'll see that the ones in GT5 non-premium look way better. It's just that ...

"There is nothing wrong with the standard cars ( They look just fine ) and this issue is being blown way out of proportion to nit pick at a game that was always going to be under immense scrutiny."

Yep, right on. It's more about contrast rather than quality. Easier to nitpick your cheese burger when you main course is lobster and steak.

airforcex,

First of all, they don't look like PS2 models. They look like Forza 3 models in comparison to the premium GT5 models. They just write "PS2 like" since that's more inflammatory even though it's more accurate to say they look like Forza 3 cars -- it's not like they are going to remember that Forza 3 cars look the same -- but instead try and compare it to some other PlayStation. PS2 is their only option. But in reality those cars look wayyyyy...

They attempt to compare the premium cars to the non-premium when the non-premium cars even look better than any car on Forza.

LOL!

Same here man! I love that game even today! Of the old online games, I still play MAG, SuperStar Dust HD and Motorstorm. Plus Warhawk.

FortGTGuy,

I wasn't saying that the 360 sold more in Japan than the PS3. I was pointing out how one can be creative with math and make a "STORY" out of it when it's really not that big a deal.

As far as 100+ more sold more for the 360. Yeah, so? That's minor. The only reason is because the PS3 had a slower year in 2010 than compared to last year which is rocked. But 2011 is a big year for Sony just like 2009 was.

They need to drop it to $49.95.

Was 2,686 now 7,083! Yellow journalism.

Here's how it's done: "360 goes from 1000 to 4000! Triple sales! OMFG! Domination!"

PS3 goes from 21,000 to 29,000 (ex) and not a big deal since it's already higher. Just wait until GT5 and xmas numbers come in for PS3 in Japan.

Maxx, it's not. Prologue was a 8.5 and average out to around 8.1 or so. So, your suggestion is way off considering that this is not just a demo of GT but a full game that will evolving (bugs and optimizations).

In the end it will probably average out to around 9.1-9.3 over a year or so when the online community grows and suggestions are implemented. You know this is going to happen.

"But seriously, it seems like this game is built like an MMO or Steam - designing an engine to receive constant updates. If this is the case, then we may not need to see a GT6 (assuming if many of the features they're putting forward is free). "

Good point DigitalAnalog.

Yeah, and what's worse is that IGN gave the 2008 GT5 Prologue a 8.5 too. Yet, GT5 had worse sound and graphics compared to Prologue? Please...

If he complained about menu slowness, that's already a known bug with online conflicts. Yet, he was quick to judge.

Yeah, you pretty much listed the main issues. When I get it it definitely not going to start playing until it's done installing.

Not sure...

I was thinking this device has to share a lot of what the PSP2 has. So maybe something like..

PSP2
PSP2/Phone (Wi-Fi only)
PSP2/Phone (Wi-Fi + Cell Plan)

If the PSP phone can only play mini-games, then it will be its own platform and share very little with the PSP2 -- which would be a shame.
