The general idea of how it played out, sure, but not the fluidity of the animations. A ton of that scenario was very clearly scripted.

Sure, but not only do those engines have a much, much steeper learning curve, there also isn't an infrastructure built into them to play other people's creations for free (outside of maybe some free stuff in the asset stores, but that's not really the same thing).

On top of that, there is also close to zero constraints for what you can do in those engines. That means that while they're obviously more powerful, they also require a lot more skill to create som...

I was kinda on the fence before, but this looks great. I'm sold.

I was mostly with you until you said the original Crash is better than Mario 64. That's hilarious.

I disagree, a remake is a new game made in the image of an old game, meaning all new assets, new animations, and new scripting at the very least. Resident Evil or MGS:Twin Snakes on the gamecube are not just their PS1 equivalents running on a new engine. Same with Ratchet and Clank on PS4.

At the opposite end, there are also remasters that tweak core aspects of the visuals like the lighting/shadows or the assets themselves, and they occasionally even add a new feature or tw...

I understand what you're trying to say, but saying they're interchangeable is very misleading. A remake goes far beyond a remaster, so if you were to to simply call every remake a remaster, or vice versa, it wouldn't be doing remakes justice.

Also OP is incorrect, a remaster can have a new engine and still use all the original assets and game design code. That's not a remake.

"Considering the boatload of games Rockstar sells with their series such as GTA, I'm betting that RDD2 will be the game of the year."

What do sales have anything to do with game of the year?

If the difference between this generation and the next is the difference between medium and high settings in a current PC game, it's going to be a very disappointing generation.

Framerate, shaders, post, and textures all def look noticeably better, but to call it "a generation ahead" might be a bit hyperbolic.

I wish. September at the earliest. And then delayed into 2019 I'm sure.

2923d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yup, Last of Us is definitely not coming out this year, pretty sure they've said that. No idea why it's on this list.

I can't believe they didn't put DQ11, Ni No Kuni 2, or Octopath Traveler on this list. The first 2 I could maybe understand if you were trying to avoid high profile games, but there's no excuse for Octopath Traveler. Based on the demo, calling that an "RPG to watch for" is an understatement.

2929d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

They have the original controls as an option, but there's also a new control scheme.

2929d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

Because people keep calling them "gamers".

I def don't disagree that SE takes forever to do anything, and that FFXV was incomplete, but they've added a boatload of stuff to that game in the last year. It's been a lot more than just a cutscene.

I really hope DQ11 lives up to the hype, it's been way too long since that series had a real console release, very excited. Also super excited for Octopath Traveler, that demo was incredible. Cautiously optimistic about Ni No Kuni 2 and Indivisible as well.

That's true, but it's a bit of hassle. Also i think you have to sign up for 3+ months and remember to cancel it before they charge you.

2977d ago 0 agree7 disagreeView comment

No way. Fall if we're lucky. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed to spring 2019.

2977d ago 0 agree15 disagreeView comment

Too bad it's only for PS+, I haven't had it for awhile and I'm certainly not signing up for 3 months to play this for 2 days.

Absolutely, Gravity Rush 2 is one of the most interesting games I've played in a long time. Also the way they kinda pulled a Nier with the ending, so good.
