It's sad that people have to go through all this trouble to get a patch for something they spent $60 on. I'd say HL2 easily tops any other FPS game out there, but Valve isn't likely going to spend any time fixing the game. The PC version had a stuttering issue that didn't get fixed for a long time (if ever, it's been a while since I played the PC version) so they probably won't even bother with the PS3 version.
I can build this device using my trusty duct tape and some cardboard in about 3 minutes. Any takers? The $25,000 is payable by cash, Paypal, or money order.
It is certainly more difficult to mess with something running on Unix/Linux, but it's far from impossible. There is no defense for any kind of computer that makes it invulnerable to attacks, especially if the attacker is determined enough.
This is a very disappointing firmware update in my opinion and is certainly not worth the "4.00" title.

The end of the trailer showed the PS3, 360, and Wii logo. The game looks great though. I hope a demo comes out.
How so? I don't think S-E has grown to their current heights because of Nintendo's fanbase.
If people boycott the game on PS3, then S-E will just keep on releasing 360 titles. At the moment, they don't seem to care where their main fanbase lies and Sony isn't writing any checks to help them remember.
Trailer reminds me of Phantasy Star Online.
I miss the days when Square and a few other companies used to pump out quality RPGs. Now with the cost of development and the difficulty/time requirements, we'll probably never see those times again. Since the White Engine/Crystal Tools are already up and running though, I'm sure that would knock a good 1-2 years of dev time off of any further projects of the same calibur as FF13. I hope FF14 and that FF7 remake are already in some kind of planning stages or we won't see either of those until...
I can't remember the exact amount of hours, but I broke the 24 hour mark on Socom, FF7, FF8, FF11, Persona 3, EQ, and WoW. It's kind of weird being up that long because you start hallucinating and having dreams with your eyes wide open.
I wish they would use a slip cover with that boxart style on all PS3 games.

No, what he is saying is he believes games like Chrono Trigger and FF7 are only thought to be good games because they trigger a sense of nostalgia in the people who played those titles when they were younger. He's saying that if people played these games today without any feeling of nostalgia from having played it earlier, they would believe them to be bad games. I think both games hold up rather well. I beat FF7 again just before Crisis Core came out and I'm going through Chrono T...
By saying that Chrono Trigger and FF7 are a "waste of space", he pretty much invalidated anything else he had to say from that sentence forward.

Yeah you're right. I remember reading an EGM interview with one of the Sony guys (I forgot who it was) where he kind of hinted that PS2 games may be downloadable in the future. I just hope everything is actually rendered in HD similar to how the PC emulators work. Though I can see how this would take time to implement since I'm sure they'd run into graphical glitches with many games.
What I want more than anything is a true PS1/PS2 emulator that runs natively on the PS3 hardware. This way the games can truly be displayed in HD, rather than just stretched as the upscaler currently does. 40GB owners would also gain PS2 compatibility if this were to happen.
If you're ever selected to test Home, you will receive an email from SCEA and/or it will just pop up in your Playstation Store. They will certainly not contact you via PSN.
Going back and playing MGS1 after all these years is pretty frustrating until I got the hang of it again. Never seen the "Game Over" screen so many times in such a short time in my life.

I thought MS was using shipped numbers, but I wasn't sure. The Sony fiscal report notes that they are using Sold numbers now, as opposed to just shipped. I don't know if they mean sold to retail or sold to consumer, but since it mentions that they changed from production shipments (meaning a retailer had bought them) I'm assuming they mean sold to consumer. (* Beginning with Q1 FY07, the method of reporting hardware and software unit sales has been changed from production shipment...
The following link shows that the PS3 was at 12.85 million sold as of March 31, 2008(* Beginning with Q1 FY07, the method of reporting hardware and software unit sales has been changed from production shipments to recorded sales.) So by now they are well into the 13 million mark and are approaching/surpassed 14 mil. 360 is at 19 million as of April 2008 though it's not known whether that's the shipped or sold number. It's more a matter of when they will pass the 360, not if. Though it will ce...
What planet are they on where fans of FF7 are suddenly apprehensive to announce their love for the game? If anything, since that PS3 tech demo was shown (along with Advent Children and Crisis Core releases), FF7 is talked about even more by the press and fans. With E3 coming soon, it's only a matter of time before the remake rumors start up again. Personally, I think the game still holds up quite well.
