You're right Foxtrot but I think of Quantum Break as the 'break' that they need to pump up interest- and develop graphical techniques for- Alan Wake 2. So Alan Wake 2 may be better as a result.

If I had to blindly pick it always has to be the Remedy game because of the psychological aspect that they bring and (sometimes) links to their other series. Plus screenshots/trailers of Quantum Break have actually been more impressive so far although it's early days for The Order.

What is such a newbie review doing on here as a main news story?

This line is a dead giveaway 'Also the coolest enemy ever, The Songbird'.

ENEMY? Not really is it? Not against Booker anyway. It's like having a Big Daddy that occasionally rattles some furniture and turns on his drill but never uses it against you.

And if you don't mind the huge difficulty spike later on then you're more of a masochist than I am. But it does...

I don 't like your Veruca Salt tone. And the lighting in this screenshot looks of Dreamcast quality.

Of course it's not a FPS. The trailer clearly suggested that it's an 'urban comic-ish character'-driven game. In the style of Jet Set Radio in my opinion although some will feel Team Fortress (for the enemy design) or Mirrors Edge (for the parkour) too, plus monsters.

I strongly hope that, potentially having the pressure of being bundled with a white XboxOne, that they don't tone down its glorious Jet Set Radio style looks. Nothing wrong with having some s...

I am massively looking forward to Thief.
I've never played a Thief game but Dishonored has given me an appetite for that kind of game.
What I like is that, in Dishonored at least, you're not merely a sneaky assassin. I hate throatslitting as a game mechanic so I was pleased that the 'assassin' bit is optional. The main thing is that you're sneaky in these elaborate surroundings and that Dishonored game me ample ways to enjoy that without even killing anyone...

Or maybe some of the disagrees were huge fans of Rare's original SNES games and perhaps the new games doesn't feel as mindblowing now.

6 months and counting since Julie Larson Green became Xbox chief and not a word from her to Xbox buyers or potential buyers. Nothing, in these days of multiple communication ways in mass media, on the off chance that knowing that the head of the product actually wants your money might drive sales or show the tiniest bit of respect about your fans. That's what I call slow communication.

Sack her. You don't get my money until it happens.

As a European I kind of like Microsoft's Wild West ways. It's charming. It's like having an old cowboy coming up to you trying to sell you some 'moonshine' for 'just a few of those old notes you got there boy'.

Oh piss off!

BEST IN-GAME MOMENT:
The Last of Us: The Beginning

Oh you mean that bit that anyone with a brain could foresee knowing that Ellie is not his daughter?

That opening so reminiscent of The Walking Dead.

What did the daughter serve:
1) To show that Joel is not, for a second, going to think any funny business with Ellie because she is now, in essence, his surrogate daughter instead.

2)...

I love their line up of exclusive games but Microsoft are so cheap with their special offers.

They sometimes praise Sony's games.

So why on earth would they encourage people to get rid of their PS3 if they really believe in making the gamer better off?

Potentially leaving the gamer with no Sony machine.

It's a bit like an author saying 'Hey- I've got a new book series out. Get rid of that old book series you h...

Sony didn't show enough enthusiasm apparently. And, yes enthusiasm does include putting money where mouth is.
Micrsoft actually have a quiet history of doing colourful game like this- the original Xbox had loads of platforming games. This might finally be the game that sells OK enough on XboxOne. To sell highly might require dedicated advertising for the relatively family friendly pound. It's the zombie parkour game it's OK to give the kids.

I love the look of this game. There's no way that it will become multi-format (even if I'd want this, Ryse and Remedy's games on PS4 in an ideal world) unless Microsoft are mad which they're not. Never cared about Insomniac's games until now. Finally they get a series that can use their big gun motif in a novel way- Jet Set Radio-like city. Remember- keep it quirky. No-one interested in this wants a compromise just to try to appeal to people who don't intend to buy it ...

Why are early Playstation games always so grey though?

PS1: Silent Hill.
PS2: Silent Hill 2.
PS3: Resistance. Killzone 2.
PS4: The Order.

Say what you like about the depth of Microsoft games- they always give you colour.

"Sometimes I think people tend to neglect the points that are in my favor and they like to highlight the points that tell me that I am wrong."

That's what any N4G commenter starts to think after a while. They're right of course. People, being separate egos on the internet that like to anonymously exert, are probably something like 10 times more likely to point out strong disagreement with something than to point out strong agreement with something. Which is ...

It wasn't made for typical FPS games though. That would be like trying to shoot somebody with sponge bullets. It was ideal for the Gamecube- I love how that console was so cute looking, its games were often cute looking and yet they could be so hardcore which, frankly, confused the market- Viewtiful Joe, Super Monkey Ball. It was a strange time, immediately post-Dreamcast, but interesting for it. Once we got to 2004 and all the sequels, then RE4, everything became a bit more predictable ...

I agree Lukejrl. But the reason that I make an exception for Bioshock is that it prided itself so much on 'choice' and yet gives you no choice in being a puppy lead around on a leash. Then calls you out for it in the 'twist' (I never actually got that far in the game). It's a cheap way of making the 'player' in to a mere 'audience' who Irrational wanted to ridicule it seems. And Infinite keeps on having that laugh at the audience in a way. It's like pla...

Not cheap for a series that I've never been given a good reason to play over any other series.

Like Bioshock comes out and it's - art deco optimism gone sour. Interesting.

Uncharted comes out and it's - Indiana Jones. It's Lara Croft only more polished looking and filmic. Interesting.

Dead Space comes out and - actually, bad example. The most derivative series in the world.

In most games you're not invited to be a mere customer to a thrill seek. You're given a proper quest that you can wholeheartedly believe will have tangible and worthwhile benefits for your character that will make the hell worthwhile. But, yes, many rightly enjoyed the ride. Even Infinite has its very spooky moments later on in the game.
