Perhaps higher resolution reduces perceived colour brightness by the human eye.
I bought the original Xbox not for Halo at all but for Jet Set Radio Future , Grabbed by the ghoulies , Blinx, later Outrun 2- fun, instant, arcadey, bright games. Some were regarded as not necessarily selling well but their heart was in the right place.(and if you please release Voodoo Vince on Xbox One, Phil, I will try that for the first time).
I didn't get that with the Xbox 360. Things seemed to be either entirely simplistic (Kinect games) or a bit over-complicated (...
The guy doesn't look like he does in the trailer any more! :(
Now he's a Dead Rising wannabe :(
Why've they turned the main guy in to a Dead Rising wannabe?
Give me the skinny guy back - he was cooler.
Controversial? It won't be a deal breaker of course.
"I dunno, we had grinding in Ratchet games, we had a wrench slam in Ratchet games. I don’t feel like anyone can say we ripped those off from anyone else when we’ve been using them for a decade plus."
Oh James- in terms of using grinding in a platform game, Insomniac ripped off Jet Set Radio and, not long after, Sonic Adventure 2. If it wasn't for Sonic Adventure 2, Ratchet and Clank might not even exist so close is it in mechanics types. And now Sunset Overdrive...
That something is possibly a change of pace. There needs to be slow sections where there are no mutants.
Jet Set Radio Future learnt brilliantly from the 'mistakes' of the original Dreamcast incarnation - you don't need enemies on screen all the time when you have such a fantastic looking world that you just want to explore at your leisure. Plus I hope that the game has interior scenes - inside shops and restaurants for instance. I hope that it brings the pace right down i...
I know a lot has been said about PS4 having a more powerful gaming engine. But Xbox consoles, for whatever reason, have always had a slightly more bright palette. It's as if Sunset Overdrive was destined for Xbox One.
Dude looks a bit like Paul Rudd. Phil Spencer is Microsoft's Mark Cerny popularity wise. Top man. The best hope that the Xbox One might get some more quirky games. Gone Home would be a start.
I think that this is the first time that they've mentioned Jet Set Radio in interviews. It would only be fair to mention the series with such clear stylistic influences:
With 'coils wrapped around the tower you can grind on',
'The player can ride the city’s telephone cables from above or below' and 'Little Tokyo’s Japanese-inspired architecture involves lots of short wall runs and oddly angled buildings'.
It sounds like thi...
I didn't know that - I assumed that the VR would be entirely separate from all existing peripherals.
Keep the Kinect and release a platform game (ideally by Rare) that uses Kinect.
If the Kinect 2.0 with its 1080p camera and full body scan can't even provide a killer game then it would have been confusing to the whole PS4 message which is about the 'games' - not the peripherals, the games.
And if virtual reality will require a different peripheral then what's the point concentrating so much on the camera?
Putting a touch pad and light bar on the controller rather than the PS4 requiring the Move again was a sufficient sol...
Yes the first of the exceptions you bring up did cross my mind. But I'm not a fan of R & C so to me it kind of takes itself more seriously than I actually find it fun which makes a weird kind of sense to me.
As for Little Big Planet, Sony perhaps support that because of the innovation angle. With Microsoft, innovation is not necessarily as important as straight forward fun. And yes LBP can be straight forward if you don't actually make levels yourself ....
But Micr...
Doesn't Ryse satisfy that pretty decently?
If their aim is sales, it's a huge risk to only release it on Xbox One.
History suggests that it'll be lucky to sell 2 million if that. My comparison here is the fine game Jet Set Radio Future which was an Xbox exclusive.
However I can understand that Microsoft might well have been more receptive to the game than Sony was. Sony generally support heavily 'serious' story based games more than out and out fun. Sony's loss really as I think th...
What these games makers seem to fail to take in to account is that, with such unproven franchises as this, they should be spending all the time that God sends on every major internet forum trying to seduce gamers in to buying the game.
Why am I, of all people, who doesn't even have Destiny on my personal radar, on N4G even talking about this?
Why aren't there people from Activision or their marketing company on N4G 27 /7!!
It's a ...
The truth about the Xbox One:
It appears to be very well made. The controller is so sturdy with good materials used and even the fact that it still uses batteries doesn't make it hopelessly outdated when you consider that the battery life is said to be very long. The headset that it comes with is very decent.
Hardware / peripheral wise, Microsoft lead in everything except the basics of the gaming engine itself (and opinions on the design of the console ca...
Then my point complements yours. It doesn't disagree with it.
I admit I haven't played it but far worse games than Aliens: Colonial Marines are likely to have sold far better.
The downgrade in visuals did it no favours with critics. But the first Motorstorm game was well downgraded compared to the initial trailer and some Motorstorm fans still swear that the first game is their favourite.
But I'm not so petty and stupid as to think that the game will not contain any moments possibly worth spending £5 on. If...
Although Playstation Plus costs, Microsoft might have potentially made billions more in revenue from online charges because you could not play online at all with an Xbox360 unless you paid to do so.
So Microsoft are arguably SLIGHTLY better for exclusives in the first few years of the next gen. It's hardly so many billions better. It hardly makes us for the drought of exclusives in the last few years of the Xbox 360.
Some of the money will have gone on sp...
