I would really like Jet Set Radio Future 2.

There could be no better statement that Sega's innovative quirkiness deserves to be rewarded.

But it cannot be an Xbox exclusive any more. It has to be on the PS4 as well if they make it because Sony has more of the kind of buyers who tend to reward such games.

It's a shame that they couldn't have made it as a launch game when there'd be less competition and more interest even in peo...

Any Nintendo 64DD or Virtual Boy game probably.

Geist (Gamecube). Developed by n-space, published by Nintendo.

Wii Music didn't get great reviews but sold a few million.

And I wonder whether Yoshi's Story on the N64 made much money.

Right- but that was in Blinx : The Timesweeper over 10 years ago.

Nintendo's future is probably handhelds. I wouldn't be surprised if their next console is primarily a high definition handheld (whether a new DS or even a resurrection of 'Gameboy') that can also be played on HDTVs.

If they started putting stuff on other people's products it would be the start of the decline in having their own console.

In the year of Lollipop Chainsaw, Quantum Conundrum, Papa & Yo, The Unfinished Swan I'd rather take one of them as game of the year.

He's right.

The difference between complaining about an AAA game being generic and an indie game being generic is that the indie game could have been created in a matter of mere days in some cases. And yet they may still charge £5-£10 for it making the cost / time taken to make it work out with a higher ratio in their favour.

Maybe AAA games have less reason to be so generic when they do take so long to make though.

Whatever, s...

The game's certainly different feeling from most games. Challenging to a fault, there's no doubt that it's tense and a hardcore gamer's dream. But it's not quite what Remedy did with the series.

At some point people decided that Max Payne was mainly about jumping around in slow motion looking and feeling cool, where you could easily die in any 2 minute cycle as if you were playing just an arcade game.

That's not what the original Max P...

This kind of thinking is all about having some pseudo power over the very industry that they seem to feel that they have a better understanding of than anyone else.

This nobody, encouraging the buying of games used, would presumably rather than no studio had the money to make games at all rather than that they decide to charge for some DLC.

If you follow the philosophy of that article strictly to its logical conclusion you could end up with no videogames ind...

However your depression would probably be less if you MADE games.

It's just unfortunate that such jobs are not necessarily easy to come by because a) you need the technical skill and b) you might also happen to prize living close to where you already live (chances in many places outside of a few cities that no videogames studio is there) where your emotions, for good or bad, have nevertheless settled to some extent.

The writer on games, the player of gam...

Years of Bore- I might play his games sometime.

But.. his own games are adolescent male power fantasies.

Spaceships, wars, techno geek fantasies, playing a sneaky thief.

It just goes to show that people tend to try to seek out and criticise in others what is an intrinsic part of their own character.

And at least a series like Wolfenstein does it with entertainment at the fore.

I'm playing psychologist here : He must just be on some level bitter at something like that h...

Yeah, damn them for that though. I paid £9.99 on day one. And I already had Playstation Plus then and when it became free. But I wanted to pay Gilbert for the free pleasure that I had previously had with Monkey Island 1 and 2, piracy so common and expected on the Amiga. I hate piracy now, no excuse when some games makers eventually give games away for free anyway.

It's ironic that Nintendo may as well have announced its intention to only concentrate on the handheld market by releasing a console with a controller that's like a giant handheld.

They may have covered many game genres but they haven't necessarily 'mastered' them if by mastered it means to have made a game that there is not an equivalent of by other designers that is better.

2D platformer for example. Mario was essentially the first platform game character. But not everyone has necessarily enjoyed playing Mario games more than they've preferred playing Rare's platform games e.g Banjo Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day. Or some of the...

Why does hardly anyone ever mention The Cave? It's really good if you are prepared to just take things easy and enjoy the stories.

I hope and trust that the PS4 will provide memorable gaming moments like the PS2 and PS3 in particular have. But it's a bit silly to get overexcited about the PS4 itself. This is not N64 to Dreamcast technological jump that we are looking at and Sony have as much as admitted it. People should be wondering what talented indie or just generally quirky developers are going to do on it. That's an important part of what the Playstation brand has always been about.
Think about the ...

deafdani, the thing about the Genesis/Megadrive is that it may not have had Donkey Kong Country's 3D model prowess but it was kind of made up by the range of Disney games - Castle and World of Illusion, Quackshot, Aladdin. The SNES did have Disney games but they were mostly made by Capcom therefore samey and not as darkly atmospheric (although some may prefer Capcom's pastelly graphics)as the Megadrive ones. Donkey Kong Country's mine karting is beautiful.

The original Bioshock really was quite spectacular when it was released because I'd probably never seen that amount of intense, fast, action on screen before.

Given that I rarely take the time to finish any game that isn't an indie one, it's irrelevant to me which might provide the best 'value for money'. If anything, I prefer my games to bee relatively short. Anything over 25 hours is certainly overkill for me.

Oh and since these are all FREE, or have been free, on Playstation Plus I think you'll find that they are the best value for money. And no matter what their length surely it matters more to fell a compul...

Grand Theft Auto truthfully hasn't interested me ever since it went in to 3D.

Having started out as a fun guilty secret kind of game in its 2D drop down days , all they literally seem to have done in 3D (at least in GTA3) is to think what the 2D game would look like in 3D. In other words, they actually added nothing to the gameplay, just to the presentation.

GTA3 came out in 2001 remember. The best city based game of that year was.. well, it was Max Payne...
