The real remaster is happening on consoles and not the PC? Didn't know that. See, I don't know why I'd buy the Dark Souls remaster on PS4 as opposed to my PC -- but I can think of one very significant advantage that Switch has over all other versions.
Great to see Yakuza 0, Nioh and Edith Finch getting some love -- all excellent games that most sites seemed to forget about by the end of the year. Mario is pure magic. Surprised there's no mention of Persona 5 though.
This is the remaster that has been available on PC for like a year now along with the sequel. Both great games, be nice to see them come to PS4 too as I can't really see much of a reason to make this console exclusive, any decent laptop can run both games easily.
How many moons do you have in Odyssey??
Surely you've read the stories about indie developers coming out and saying that their games are selling better on Switch than competing consoles? You don't have a Switch but if you did, you may have seen that DOOM fell off the eshop "Best Sellers" list almost immediately while Skyrim and Rocket League have been consistently near the top if not in the number one position since they launched. So 3rd party seems to be doing fine on Switch, it's a shame that DOOM didn't...
Definitely want them to keep the open world, but I also hope they bring back dungeons. When they started showing off BOTW, I got so excited about the prospect of stumbling across the dungeons through exploration and tacking them in the order I found them. Was so disappointed to find that wasn't the case. And no, the Divine Beasts are not on the same level as classic Zelda dungeons. Bring them back and it'll be an absolute belter of a game!
2017? Best combat of this generation. Great to see Team Ninja putting out games of this quality again.
I dunno if the story is poorly written or whatever but I took it that he sold his console to be able to afford the 30 blankets for the shelter, but maybe he just donated his console along with the blankets. Regardless, it's a lovely gesture and it's not fair to call it a publicity stunt, just a good kid.
Maybe it's difficult and costly to implement, but I'd love to see more console games giving the player the choice like Nioh did. As soon as I booted it up, I switched it to performance mode and never changed it because that's what's important to me, and guys who don't mind sacrificing frames for that 1080p resolution with less aliasing are catered for too. Everybody's happy.
I was too harsh on the older games in this comment. I like those games, but I think the people bemoaning the loss of old school survival horror forget how tiresome it had all become by the time outbreak 1 and 2 hit -- and Resi 4 was such a breath of fresh air. I actually think that Resi 7 did a pretty commendable job of modernizing those older mechanics -- at least for the first half of the game -- and I hope that the Resi 2 remake follows in that style. Just get rid of the black goop monster...
8 disagrees.... Lunatics on this site, man. They probably all hate The Beatles and puppies too.
Resident Evil 4 IS a masterpiece. It's the only game from that era that I replay on a regular basis and I'm still blown away by it. Absolutely perfect pacing and a phenomenal combat system that just never gets old. I get that some people prefer creeping through pre-rendered backgrounds, fighting with the controls because the cinematic camera angles can't agree on whic...
SOMA was always a walking sim poorly disguised as a horror game. I felt that the enemies added absolutely nothing to the experience (they're barely even referenced in the story) so i'm OK with cutting them out, it's probably a better game for it.
I generally prefer challenging games too, but there's nothing wrong with the occasional walking sim, and I don't think that the feeling of playing a game like Journey could be recreated in a film/ short film.
It's so infuriating to see that kind of talk on here. A healthy console market is a good thing for everybody. This gen got a whole lot more interesting as soon as the Switch came out, and strong competition from Nintendo will only result in better things from Sony.
LOL you're so right dude, I mean it looks EXACTLY like Quake and Half-Life.
You didn't see his comment above? "All this Nintendo Switch fad will end soon, as soon as next year". Personally I think you'd have to be insane to say something like that, but then, I'm not a respected Industry analyst like Masterfox. So yeah, sell your Switches while they're still worth something, folks -- it all ends for Nintendo next year.
Played for 52 hours according to my Switch (across different save slots). 612 moons on my main save. Lost sleep because of the game. Easily the most polished game I've played in 2017 as well as one of the most enjoyable. No bugs, no glitches, game never froze. Up there with Nioh and Persona 5 as my games of the year.
So what score do I give a game like that? According to the maniacs on N4g I have to give it an 8/10 because it doesn't have a good story where Mario a...
"Now with extra Colossi"
I think adding new bosses would be very tasteless. The cut Colossi were left out so Team Ico could focus on making the remaining 16 as polished as possible, and I don't think Ueda has any regrets about the amount of bosses in the game.
Out of the top twenty games on that PS4 list, only one game is exclusive to PS4 (three if you count Zodiac Age and P5, but if you do, then every remaster and cross-gen release on the Switch counts too). So I'd argue that the good old PC received just as many quality games as the PS4 this year and even has its own killer exclusive (for now) in the form of Divinity 2 -- but of course you'd never mention that.
It was just the wrong time. Old school shooters are back in style now, but when R3 came out, shooters were all about regenerating health and cinematic quick time nonsense. Such a shame too as it's one of the best console fps games I've played.
God of War was always an action/adventure game first and foremost. The combat is really fun and satisfying but far from deep. The new God of War should be fine as long as it can keep up the pacing and that action/adventure feel. Devil May Cry on the other hand was always about the "anime-style hack and slash combat" as Kamiya puts it. There would be outrage from the fans if they moved in a more cinematic direction -- you saw what happened when DMC simply removed some of the complexi...
