There was some leak or something a little while ago that said there would be an indie showcase this week and a proper direct next week or at least before the end of March. Seems like that might be the case.

It is but I got the impression there was little to no hype behind it. Saw very few people talking about it online, I didn't even know it was a PS4 exclusive until I tried to look at Steam reviews for it yesterday! This is a nice surprise, hopefully it continues to sell well.

Edit: "didn't need to sell a lot of copies to reach No.1 in what is a very quiet time for the physical games market. The title's boxed sales are actually 63% lower than the original&qu...

That's a really strange boss, she telegraphs her moves clearly and is fairly easy to dodge but she does insane damage if she catches you and the window for doing damage to her is so small that the fight just drags on and on and on. Terrible decision to have that fight so early in the game as I'm sure it turned a lot of people off.

You don't actually want that one, believe me.

I like Nioh more than the souls games, sorry! I just value gameplay more. Nioh had an absolutely outstanding combat system that evolved throughout the game as you acquired new skills. It felt like a character action game and souls game combined which I loved. Boodborne and Dark Souls are about as far from a character action game as you can get. Still love those games, but I play them for the atmosphere and excellent level design... two areas where Nioh is admittedly lacking.

Incredible writing and world building, but the actual gameplay part is very poor. Level up that shield sign until you regain health when enemies attack and never lose a fight again, even on the harder difficulties. Do people actually enjoy that or do they just play on easy to breeze past the fights and get to the good stuff?

They gave Bloodborne a 10 before finishing it. Nobody seemed to care then for some reason. If you think every 10 The Witcher 3, MGSV or Breath of the Wild received was from a reviewer with a completed save file, then you're out of your mind. Oh and Luigi's Mansion 3 has simplified the combat from Dark Moon and removed the leveling system making cash hunting almost pointless unless you're bad at the game and need to purchase assists. That's enough to take it from an 8 down to a...

I liked Lost Legacy more than 4, and yeah, that train sequence was outstanding, probably the best set piece in the entire series. But 2 is still the best Uncharted, was a really special game at the time and it still holds up brilliantly today.

It's an interesting game and for some reason I wanted to keep playing it, but the combat is far too simple. Desperately needs a difficulty option and maybe a patch or two that actually address the atrocious performance on console. It's fine but I'll probably forget all about it by the time December rolls around.

This just isn't true at all. I've been seeing this a lot since 11 came out, people think poor sounding music is just a staple of the series. I wonder if these people have much experience with the series at all. Dragon Quest 8 has phenomenal music, 5 and 7 have great soundtracks too. The music in DQ11 is arguably Sugiyama's worst work yet but it's still decent music -- the real problem is the awful midi samples, particularly the harsh horn sounds. I don't think people would...

Interesting but I can't help but feel a little disappointed as I love the Yakuza combat. It's strange that they're making drastic changes to the main series while the spin-off Judgment plays almost exactly like a traditional Yakuza game with a new protagonist.

It came to Steam recently so it's definitely a possibility.

Nice to see Mark of the Ninja on here, absolutely outstanding stealth game. But yeah, no Chaos Theory is kinda ridiculous. It's one of the greatest stealth games ever made and much more deserving of a spot than Splinter Cell 1 and bloody Conviction.

Exactly. It's also just not true to say there is no downtime in the game, that's what the hidden upgrades and secrets are for. The important difference is that time spent outside of combat in DOOM is entirely dictated by the player and not unskippable cutscenes and forced walking sections.

I can't think of any mechanic from Red Dead 2 that I'd like to see in a Zelda game besides maybe having your horse carry around the majority of your weapons and equipment, and having to walk up to them to select items from their cargo. I loved that detail in Red Dead even though Rockstar's implementation was clunky as all hell. It could lead to some cool emergent moments where you encounter terrain not suitable for the horse and need to figure out a way to cross or whatever. They ...

Their presentation was packed with games that are releasing this year and early 2020... that's the difference.
