I don't think it's that surprising that a new console in 2013 will run an old game so well.
Question: What does jumping in a hay bail look like on next gen? Do you simply go through the hay magically or does each piece of hay move out of the way as it consumes you?
AC4 is far from an ugly game. I'm playing it on PS3 and it looks good enough for me. I don't think I need to drop $400 on a PS4 so that grass can move out of the way as I walk through it.
It just doesn't bother me enough to justify playing the PS4.
Who cares how many plants there are. I've never played a game and thought, "this would be more fun with more grass and foliage.
Is this surprising anyone? E3 was played on PC wasn't it? Next Gen was hyped up to be beastly machines, but they're just not as powerful as they thought. They're just low-grade PCs.
Really? Then how come I've never seen the rubber wear off of the dualshock 3 in stores? Were people not using those?
Dualshock 3 is great. I have no problems with it's design. However, I'm seeing the Dualshock 4 wear out really fast. Go to the demo unit at the store and see for yourself. The sticks are already wearing down.
GT6 isn't even out.
How do you know?
Wouldn't that cause screen tearing because most displays only refresh at 60hz?
It's not about power... it's about what developers can do with that fixed power.
Developers don't usually optimize their games very well on the PC platform. My PC kicks the pants off of the PS3, but yet I still couldn't get Need for Speed Hot Pursuit to run decently without all kinds of judder. However, it runs like butter on my PS3, because the developers can guarantee that everyone will be playing it on the same hardware, but on PC, there are so many differe...
I only have the unreleased PS3 build of Shadow Fall, but it's still pretty fun. Doesn't look quite as good on PS3, but oh well.
You don't want 40fps. That's going to cause judder. TV's don't run in 40hz or 80hz.
Burnout is one of the most unrealistic driving games. How can you say it felt super realistic at 60fps?
Great... so next gen is going to be variable framerate? That's worse than just sticking to 1 locked framerate.
Look at Uncharted 2, 3... it's pretty much a SOLID 30fps the entire time. The only time I ever saw the framerate dip in Uncharted 2 is during a cutscene where Nathan and Chloe jump through the window after escaping the collapsing building.
A lot of current gen games look bad at 720p because of bad or no anti-aliasing. I'm sure by the end of next gen, you'll see that a lot of games will be 720p on both consoles, but the games will look photo-realistic with excellent anti-aliasing.
So I was right? Awesome!
What people tend to forget it, the graphics on PC can only be as good as the developers who made them.
I still think Uncharted 3's graphics rival most PC games in terms of set pieces, animation, and lighting. It may not be 1080p, but it looks a lot better than most PC games that I've seen.
I hope they're able to do even better graphics and stay at 30fps. I still believe 60fps isn't a must for most games. A constant 30fps looks and feels fine on console.
However, 30fps on PC with a mouse isn't fun, but with a controller, it's fine.
"unlimitless" doesn't make sense? It's either "limitless" or "unlimited".
