Do you know what judder is?
That's great. People buy a 60fps shooting game.
If a game runs at a flat 60fps (no dipping below) then it's fine, but if it runs at 60fps in some areas and 30fps in others, the inconsistency bothers me.
Also, couldn't they make the game look even better if they shot for a stable 30fps? At 30fps, the developer has TWICE the amount of time to render each frame.
That kinda sucks! I wanted a CONSISTENT experience. Say all you want about frame rates, but the best kind of frame rate is a constant frame rate that doesn't go up or down.
I want 30 or 60, but nothing in between. It makes for juddery stuttery game play when you get duplicate frames added into the mix. It doesn't make the game fun anymore.
This news may just turn me away from picking up the PS4 version.
Agree. This is bad news. I don't want a framerate that fluctuates. Look at need for speed rivals on ps4... the frame rate is a ROCK SOLID 30fps (after patch) and it plays just as smoothly as a 60fps game.
My PS4 is perfect. Haven't had a single game crash and it has been as quiet as my PS3 Slim.
I think I'm gonna buy this again to play it on my PS4.
I almost bought the PC "last gen" version on steam before they announced the Definitive Edition and I'm glad I didn't.
Face it PC people... you've been playing "last gen" console ports this entire time thinking to yourself that they're "next gen graphics" HAHAHAHA!
Next gen doesn't start until the DEVELOPERS start making next gen games...
Read this carefully.
All games do not have to be 60fps. You can get way better graphics, animations and physics in a 30fps game.
Also, since Tomb Raider is a cinematic experience, 60fps would ruin that movie look.
Are you upset that they're trying to improve their game? Sheesh!
Wow, I love this quote:
"Gamers have always wanted the same thing in every console cycle: awesome games. The new consoles, faster PCs, new graphics APIs etc., these alone don’t make awesome games. They are simply platforms and tools to enable developers deliver awesome games. The goal of these technologies and technologies like Havok should be allow developers focus on their primary goal: making awesome games. In some ways, the console wars, console vs. PC – these all ma...
It's because the PS4 is so fast that it's slanted permanently.
That's because unlike the xbox, the power supply is INSIDE the console, so you can use any power cord that will fit.
Maybe we defend the PS4 because it's actually a good machine? I'm really happy with my PS4... just need more software now, but that will come.
I really love my PS4. Totally satisfied with it. However, that being said, I'm not a fan of the new stick design... it doesn't feel good on my thumbs. That's an easy problem to solve though.
LOVED MAX PAYNE 3! Wish they made a next gen port of it so I can play it again!
Infamous Second Son! Why isn't that on the list?
Infamous Second Son.
Also, Thief doesn't really look special at all. It looks like PS3/360 graphics to me.
Nobody said it couldn't be done.
Exactly! I feel like some titles need to be 30fps anyways... just for the atmosphere. For Call of Duty, 30fps is bad, but for a game that looks and plays with cinematic style, wouldn't look or feel right at 60fps.
What?
UKRsoldier: Yes, that's what I meant. Sometimes it's a smooth 60fps, other times it's 45fps and sometimes it goes down to 30fps depending on what's going on and it makes it feel inconsistent.
Steady 60fps is okay
Steady 30fps is okay
Varying framerate is not okay.
One thing is for sure, I hope we never see screen tearing ever again with this new generation.
Any developer can hit 1080p 60fps. Is the quality going to be as good as a 1080p 30fps game? No.
When you're given TWICE the amount of time to render each frame, you can devote more resources to other things such as effects, lighting, physics, AI and so on.
If you want this entire generation to be 60fps, then be prepared to be disappointed when you don't see the games improving in those areas.
