Basically,
You would need a whole PS3 inside the PS4...which basically raises the cost by more than $150.
That's a problem.
(Just wanted to add that the specific Nvida RSX GPU isn't absolutely necessary for B/C. It could be done with an AMD GPU with proper PS3 emulation subset protocols.....so that could help costs a little bit)
They didn't even bother to put in trophies or achievements.

You were supposed to change your paste BEFORE it had problems. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENCE would have saved your PS3.

Why?
Because not all PS3 Fats are created equal.
Launch 20 and 60GB units were created with hot 90nm CPU and GPU fabs.
But later 2007 PS3s, such as my 80GB unit, have the cooler running 65nm CPU and GPU.
Also Sept of 2011, I changed my Thermal paste (I used Arctic Silver 5 ) and now it runs like the first day I bought it. I even leave my PS3 on sometimes for weeks at a time.

At any rate, from what I understand, 3 terraflops of total output is what it will take to render that Agni's Philosophy tech demo.
An AMD 7970 renders 3.7 Teraflops now for approx $400
