PG-13 can practically have all curse words in dictionary but according to rules PG-13 movies can only have 1 F-word. If there are 2 or more F-words then movie is automatically R-rated, no matter what other content movie has. They aren't so strict for other curse words.
Natal comes way too late for this generation. There are already 30 million 360 owners with just standard controllers and by the time Natal comes there are many more. Most of them are NOT going to buy Natal, at least not with $100 price. Ok, unless you have several huge games ready at launch but even then it's doubtful (even Halo wouldn't be enough alone).
And if at least 50% of the owners don't have controller then most third-party developers aren't going to make for it. Why onl...
In film industry, 4K is pretty standard resolution because there are many digital cameras with 4K resolution. And old-fashioned film cameras actually have higher resolution than current digital cameras. It may sound strange but you have to remember that main reason to change from analog cinema to digital was never resolution or picture quality but easier handling, convenience and price (for example duplicating is much cheaper with digital). And Red have just started to sell 28K cameras but th...
I hate the idea of having to pay for items and stuff in an MMO. The model would mean that those paying hundreds of dollars each month for items would get advantage over who pay less for them. And there are even people who are prepared to pay thousands of dollars per month for a game.
Ok, perhaps they could sell stuff which looks great but are completely useless in PVP. Those paying for items should not get any advantage over any other players at least on PVP.
Although Blu-ray has great capacity, it'll always remain much slower than even the slowest possible HDD's on market. According to many experts, you can never go faster 8X speed with BR (equivalent of about 30X DVD). It is like DVD drives can't be much faster 20X speed because of physical limitation of optical media. And seek times for PS3 BR drive is around 300 ms while HDD's usually have seek time of 10-15 ms (yes, HDD has 20 times faster seek times).
I'm not sure how fast is h...
It was confirmed about 2 years ago that Alan Wake requires at least Vista to be playable on PC. And I doubt this has changed since then. So those who want to play it on Windows XP are out of luck.
Wireless plug is not needed because 360 already has wired connection and wired is better for gaming anyway. And you won't need 2 year protection plan either or you would have to add that to price of PS3 too. And you can even play without hard drive (most games even online) if you want and 60gb hard drive costs $100, not $150.
theKiller: Do you honestly believe Google secures your privacy better than MS? Everything you seek with Google is saved in Google's servers and they know every seek you have done with Google in last few months. They don't even need to hack your computer to get that information because you have already given information them. The same applies to documents made with Google Apps. Every document you do with them is in their servers and very easy for FBI to check.
Now, you complain th...
PS3 has 3 times bigger install base in Japan so obviously it sold much more there. In NA 360 has much bigger install base than PS3 so I really doubt PS3 version will sell even close to 360 version there.
Even Gears of War 2 only barely reached 2 million first week and it was much more hyped and 360 also has bigger install base. Should I call GoW2 as flop then?
I wouldn't call success either yet. First week has been less than half what SO3 had. SO3 had 400k first week in Japan.
"Errr, the Star Wars MMO isn't out yet...so I don't think you can say it's not as successful as WOW... "
Yes it is. Star Wars Galaxies appeared years ago and is still alive. But it was published year before WoW.
Even with dropping Classic mode and require Premium, it would still have lower requirements than WoW. So those who can't play Premium version, can't play almost no games released on PC in last 5 years.
You remember that wrong. It was never at top in Japan, it just reached no 7 in charts.
Those people saying that they could see difference between DVD and Blu-Ray even with 19 inch TV are partly right. You can see difference if you 2-3 feet away but if you are even 4 feet away you can't see the difference (that is impossible even in theory). If you are normally watching TV from 10 feet distance then you would need at least 50 inch TV to actually see any difference between 720p and 1080p. Here is the chart:
MS still supports Windows 2000 so I believe XP will be supported for several years. My work computer still has Windows 2000 and it still gets upgrades regularly (yes it's quite old computer). Still, I have nothing against Vista because I have it at home and it usually works fine. I just don't think Vista has big enough improvements for most people yet (UI effects are just eye candy which most people don't care about after 1 hour).
@DaKid: It's partly because european taxes are much higher. And US prices are without taxes and european prices are with taxes.
The story has several mistakes...
1. 360 has sold 19 million (according to latest figures), not 12 million.
2. Elite SKU has been out for only a year and has probably sold about one million SKU's (Premium and Arcade are more popular SKU's than Elite). So loss would have been more than 1000 dollars per console. I doubt this is possible even with 100% failure rate.
I believe they just accidently took one-year-old story and thought it was about Elite....
There have never been any hugely successful FPS series in Japan. They simply just don't like FPS games. Actually there are very few successful TPS games too. MGS has been biggest there, not even GTA has sold much.
