The only way GFWL could have been success is if it would free of monthly charge from the beginning. It doesn't matter even if there wouldn't have been Steam because there dozens other similar services which have no monthly charge. And anyone can create new service when ever they want without permission from MS. Remember, Windows is free platform with no control from MS and no game on PC has license fees (MS doesn't get even 1 dollar when game on Windows sells 10 million copies unless made by ...

Even if PS3 would be offline, bug would still occur. This is firmware bug, not PSN bug.

Lag could be due to TV lag and Natal is still months away. And remember, even standard wireless controllers alone on both PS3 and 360 have over 60 ms lag excluding any other lag. Most people already experiences about 100 ms input lag and don't even notice it. Wii controller has around 100 ms input lag and with TV input lag has almost same lag as Natal has according to this video.

Perhaps PSPGo is a test but PSP go sales has been absolute disastrous everywhere. In Japan even PS2 and 360 sells much more than PSPGo. It is pretty much dead there (normal PSP sell 50k a week there, PSPGo barely 1k a week).

So, if PSPGo was a test then it proves DD doesn't sell games. I'm absolutely sure that PSP2 is still going to have physical media. If it doesn't then DS2 is going to destroy PSP2 in sales.

Sales has absolutely nothing to do with quality. Many horrible games have great sales while many great games have bad sales. Game can sell 10 million copies and still be rubbish and game selling just 10k copies could be much better game.

@jaysquared: Don't add some useless features to the price of 360. Live and rechargable batteries are necessary (at least if you want to play online, some people don't) but wifi definitely isn't. Most 360 owners use wired connection (better for gaming anyway), only very few 360 owners buys wifi.

"How on earth does 360 win if worldwide sales are so bad. "

360 is ahead of PS3 by 5 million worldwide so I wouldn't call sales as bad. PS3 may get past 360 but it will probably take couple of years. If 360 sales are bad then PS3 sales have been horrible. Especially considering how popular PS2 was and now PS3 may only barely reach second place (third, if we count DS). PS3 will never get any significant lead over 360 and vice versa (significant means at least 10 million ...

DLC was already officially announced couple days ago for both PS3 and PC (coming march 30). You probably have missed the news.

These may not be PS3 screens but there is PS3 version.

This has nothing to do with Wii. Almost all point & click adventure games lately have been made for PC first, only very few of them have been released first on any console (actually, probably just 1). Sure, some of them have been ported to Wii but only 1 of them is exclusive on Wii (Zack and Wiki). Every other game is on PC too (released either at the same time or before Wii version) and several exclusive PC point&click adventure are released every year. Those don't have huge budgets ...

Zelda sells mainly to western markets, japanese sales has always been much less than US sales. Phantom Hourglass did sell quite well but even that barely reached 1 million. Twilight Princess sold 600k on Wii in Japan so Spirit Tracks could still sell more than TP. So sales are not so big surprise actually.

I wouldn't say Blu-Ray or PS3 are mainstream. Sure, they could be mainstream in 5 years but they are still niche. DVD's still sell over 10 times more even in USA (in revenue, in unit sales difference is even bigger), in rest of world BR sales can't even reach 5% of the DVD sales. Most europeans buy PS3 to play games, not to watch Blu-Ray films. In half of the world PS3 hasn't even been released and Blu-Rays aren't sold unless you import them.

Heck, most of the households still do...

Although most Halo sales comes from USA, FF13 would have to have biggest FF sales ever to beat Halo:Reach. Because I doubt Halo:Reach is going to sell less than Halo 3. Halo 3 outsold every FF ever released (well, FF7 has sold about as much) so Halo:Reach outselling FF13 wouldn't be a big suprise. And FF games have lost a lot of their popularity with latest games, especially outside Japan. Hype for FF13 doesn't seem very high either.

The only game on the list which has possibili...

@2.1: Sure, but FF13 is going to be extremely frontloaded and around 70% of the total sales are going to happen first week (with 2m first week F13 is going to reach 3m total sales). FF has always been very frontloaded. In the long run NSMB is going to sell much more than FF13. If you don't believe then just check NSMB DS sales. It had 850k start and has sold 6m in Japan. Japanese just love 2D Mario.

@5.1: That would mean extremely crappy looking HD gaming. Movies are just 24 fps (yes, all movies are) so getting 60 fps would require 2.5 times more bandwidth.

Although, bigger problem is lag which is impossible to avoid unless they build thousands of servers around the world. Even if server would be only 100 kilometers away, you could still sometimes notice lag. And playing game from europe on US server is completely unplayable. Even on MMO's there are separete US and European...

You should remember that ALL movies are just 24fps, even huge action movies. Even If you watch DVD or BR on 120Hz TV, the movie is still actually 24fps. Some made-for-TV movies are 30fps but movies in movie theaters are always only 24fps. Strangely, few people complain about that...

There are no MMO's in the world which cost $30 a month, I'm not sure where you pulled that figure. WOW is most expensive MMO right now and even that cost $15 a month at most (monthly fee is even less if you have longer than 1 month subscription).

Sounds like you won't even buy FF13 on any platform because you seem to hate the game already. Also, FF13 doesn't even have multiplayer so party chat shouldn't be so big issue.

And you can see difference between 720p and 1080p with smaller TV's, it just depends on how far you are. You can see difference between 720p and 1080p even with 19" monitor if you are 2-3 feet away (like when you are using PC).

Then again, differences between 720p and 1080p and lossless ...

@1.4: That technology is still just a theory because not even a prototype have been introduced. We have no idea yet whether technology actually works or not because there are no displays using that technology. And no tests about quality or life span.

5943d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Right now, OLED has quite short life span. Then again, LCD's and plasma displays had very short life span too when first models came out. Especially plasma displays had very short life span until just few years ago. So, they may find some solution for life span just like before. If they don't, then OLED doesn't have very good future.

I bought PS1 Silent Hill from PSN before it was removed from PSN next day so this is not the first time. I also bought CoD Classic before this. It is very annoying when you can never when game can be removed from service. Of course it doesn't bother me anymore because I have them but it does hurt other owners (games work still after removal. If they wouldn't, I would require all my money back).

EDIT: I am talking about EU PSN. Silent Hill was removed 1 day after release there.
