getting Portal 2, Socom 4 and Mortal Kombat.

Really enjoying the Socom 4 beta and put a lot of hours into it despite only having 2 maps to play which is a good sign imo

"2.º They dont have time to do a better version, A COD every year... "

although it's alternating developers so really it's a COD every 2 years. Tbh though if your making all this money why bother changing the formula. They're in it to make money at the end of the day and each year COD barely makes any changes but sales increase. Eventually people will get bored of COD but they could probably continue to do what they're doing another few years, a...

Doubt it. End of the day it's still gonna be the same engine and most of their audience is still on the 360.

This Gen alone we have had:

COD 2 - PC/360
COD 3 - port during a time when games still released accross xbox, ps2, ps3 and 360
COD4 - slightly better on 360
WAW - slightly better on 360
MW2 - slightly better on 360
Black ops - slightly better on 360 but also had a ton of bugs the 360 version managed to avoid ...

yeh but also if your being shot at you want to be able to dive behind some cover. just being able to crouch leaves you too exposed in those sort of situations which happen a lot in a military shooter

Unsurprising really.

With level of graphics, destructibility, physics etc etc all going on I'm surprised the consoles will handle bf3 judging from the footage so far, then again I'm worried that whilst downsizing the game we may also see a significant downgrading of the graphics.

I think I'd prefer a lower player count if it meant keeping graphics similar to the pc version.

Not to mention that back in the day I loved BF2 on pc but...

Loved Syndicate on Amiga but not sure how it translate into a modern game

although i agree it's more 'mainstream', can you really blame them?

end of the day they need to develop a game that will appeal to as many people as possible in order to be profitable. People seem to forget the games industry is still in it to make money.

The problem with only appealing to the 'core' socom crowd is that theres not that many of us. I dunno how many copies of socom 2 they sold but at any 1 time the most i ever saw playing on...

well i love it. Been playing socom since the first game released and i had to buy the oldschool network adapter for the ps2.

This game isn't socom 1/2 however it does still have that socom feel. It's also leaning a bit into GR:AW territory.

it's just refreshing to play a tactical shooter again, one that isn't about camping for killstreaks and sprinting round a map spraying an smg.

There are a few rough edges but I've heard...

a good tactical shooter that actually required aim and skill to be good i.e. no aim assist.

a bit campy but then it is a tactical shooter.

some good idea's but some glaring absences such as matchmaking but no party system (although I hear this will be in the full game)

If you have a clan the ingame clan system works reasonably well too

I really don't get all the MAG comparisons. Yeh it looks similar, probably due to it being the same or a flavour of the engine that powered MAG (which makes sense) but gameplay wise it's totally different.

Maybe a bit different to the older socom games but much closer to socom than MAG

Rubbish comparison.

Most look like promotional shots rather than ingame screens and isn't the 3rd Crysis 2 screen actually from the original Crysis...

Why are the images so small...

Crysis 2 on ps3 is the worst version, get over it. Of course the guys at Crytek will say all versions are the same cus they don't want gamers who only own a ps3 being put off from buying the game

Massive disappointment. Will either pick up for cheap on the superior pc version or rent on the 360

Graphically I wasn't all that impressed but all the action going on around you makes for a thrilling race even if when you take time to look at the texture and effects they're pretty poor.

Even so it was still fun so just added the game to my rentals list

excellent news and a worthwhile update. Nice to know if my ps3 ever dies my saves are backed up, was very annoying when my last console died and I lost all my saves

So I guess we don't use the original source article on N4G anymore? even though it was provided in this article?

And although Child of Eden looks cool I'm certainly not spending over £100 on a device so I can play it.

Not sure how much it is cus I got it for free from plus but as far as I can tell your getting the original game (no harm in that) but with some extra's (saves, leaderboards, trophies) so not sure what the problem is?

If the 64 for pc, 24 for consoles is true then I hope they find a way to make it work. Let's be honest to have 64 players plus vehicles (inlcuding jets no less) then you need big maps. But simply having the same maps and with a lower player count might cause problems.

Back when BF2 released BF2:modern combat released on consoles and again that game had 24 players compared to the pc's 64. The thing is though they were actually pretty different games with maps specifica...
