yes gamers have grown. only hardcore seems to mean hardware capability, rather than the gaming experience. i think hardcore is the most misleading term in gaming, its almost cliche. I think mature would be better suited to describe the type of game often referred to as hardcore.
there were many 'hardcore' (ie mature) games on the wii, only nintendo wanted to exploit the family orientated experience instead. i have a wii, and my problem isnt that it wasnt mature enough...
