i think people just dont understand it, and therefore cant comprehend how it can be used and what its strengths are.

people didnt know or understand what they were seeing. most thought it was just a new controller for wii. i got the impression the controller was the new console. they didnt even mention it was a controller for a new console... instead they only talked about the controller.
of course people can't like or back something when they dont know what the hell it is!

nintendo have a problem because they are announcing games that are multi-platform and will be out way before wiiu is released. so why will people hold out for the wiiu version of these big games?
if the wiiu is only on par with ps3/360, then that will mean the games will be identical. the only difference might be with control method or exclusive content/features.

my ps3 is only a few months old, so i dont think its the hard drive.
i do admittedly have a really poor connection, i think it may be that. with the massive download size my connection probably times out. but i was able to download little big planet with no problem.

The idea isnt new or original. its just nintendo are the first to take the bold step to fully integrate it as a standard method of play. Just like they did with wiis motion control.
sony/microsoft didnt fully integrate motion control right from the start, they took half steps and used peripheral upgrades to add those features.
nintendo are making this console/handheld feature an essential part of what makes wiiu.. it is wiiu! but sony are taking half steps ag...

i can see where the writer is coming from though. my initial reaction to wiiu was 'this is so shit' followed by very strong feelings of disappointment.. almost despair.
but now i am starting to see the possibility. i think its such a new territory nintendo are walking in, that it is scary... a bit like the original wii. it will take some time to come around to the idea.
personally, i feel nintendo did a bad job at the unveiling because they didnt sho...
