Very true _-EDMIX-_. Take FF7 for example. Sephiroth was a world-famous 1st class Soldier who went "missing" five years before the game began. Yet even though he has been gone for half a decade, random NPCs still talk about how amazing he was and little children still mention wanting to become Soldiers just like their hero Sephiroth. It's a small detail but it really helps make the world feel more real and fleshed out.
The same goes for FFX. You really start...
Very true. It reminds me of the people who were praising Hellblade's permadeath when it announced because it reminded them of retro gaming and "kids these days are too spoiled". But permadeath was never a good thing even in those old games. It sucked getting to a final stage or final boss, only to lose against it and have to start the WHOLE game again. No kid enjoyed that shit in the 80s and 90s.
The game is getting mostly positive reviews so it's obviously not as bad as this reviewer is saying. Then again I don't mind walking sims (providing they are reasonably priced).
Lol same. Just had a 55 hour work week and most of the money from my pay check went to rent and the electricity bill. Sucks :(
Squall was based off River Phoenix, so it would have made more sense if he spent that money trying to look like Phoenix (a real person) rather than this....abomination.
Finally!!
Huh. I always thought they were Middle aged for some reason. It's weird to think they're younger than me lol
Don't get me started in the scene where she refused to put on her armour TO SAVE HER LIFE because she hasn't been given orders to put her armour on. Infuriating.
It was more than just a stepping stone. It was a revolutionary jump from 2D to 3D, and single-handedly revolutionized the platforming genre and 3D camera controls. Any game with a free-moving camera or a character that moves independently from the camera can thank Nintendo.
I'm having fun with it too. It hasn't its problems but I'm baffled by how many people think it's as bad as a 'dumpster fire'
I'm I'm guessing PETA hasn't seen an actual kangaroo in real life then? Those things are built like tanks and can have been known to kill people.
Lies!
I blame the media for that tbh. Yooka laylee was never marketed as the second coming of 3D platformers. Playtonics only intention was to make a game in the style of N64 collectathons. Which is exactly what they achieved. Yet critics are dumping on it because it isn't the innovative revolutionary platformer they wanted it to be....even though it never promised to be any of that
Yeah I remember the days where a 7/10 was a "great game with flaws" and a 8/10 was a "great game but not a masterpiece". I'd say Yooka Laylee definitely fits there. It's enjoyable and fun, but it does have flaws. It's not a 10/10 but it's far from the mess many critics are saying it is
How frustrating that must have been for Peter Moore, especially since he ended up being right.
The company I work for is going through a similar thing. We aren't adapting or evolving to stay relevant, so smaller more modern companies are overtaking us. Do the big-wigs care? Nope, they stick their heads in the sand and try to convince us all that everything's ok. >_>
Yeah there was an interview about a week ago with the animators that confirmed the character animations were all outsourced to a cheaper studio because EA wanted the team to focus on the 'important' stuff like locations and ship design. That's why there's such a difference between the backgrounds and ships (which look great), and the people (which....don't).
Nobody is censoring JonTron. Censorship is when the government supresses free speech. A private business removing something controversial from their own property is perfectly legal and makes sense from a business perspective. If you represent a company, you can't go spouting racist/sexist/etc. things on a public forum and not expect repurcussions from your bosses.
JonTron is expressing his freedom of speech by saying the things he said on Youtube, and Playtonic are expr...
I love how people always blame the SJWs for things like this, instead of realizing that this is a fairly standard business decision. Playtonic are a private business who makes family-friendly games. So they generally don't want to be associated with people who spout racist crap on a public forum and proudly proclaim they are a white supremacist. It has nothing to do with "pandering to SJWs" and everything to do with avoiding a PR disaster and trying to keep that family-friendly...
That's not how the law or discrimination works at all. Playtonic is a private business that has the right to express itself as they see fit. If they do not wish to include voice work by a controversial figure in their video game that is well within their right. Jon’s free speech was not violated in any way because Playtonic is not the government and they have to right to do whatever they want with the content he contributed to their game.
In this particular case, JonTr...
Didn't the original Shenmue cost over 30 million to make? 6 million is nothing by comparison.
