bury this article in an avalanche of fire and brimstone please.
This guy is as close as I've seen someone come. AMD are at least 2 generations behind Intel.
If they had anything to match Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge offerings they would have launched it long ago. Console gamers don't seem to realize how bad of a situation AMD is in.
That said I'm glad they 1upped their competition by getting the console contracts this gen. AMD simply must not be allowed to go out of business. For the consumers sake.
really dislike when people try and determine CPU power and efficiency on GFLOPS.
so freaking stupid.
it will be rushed. You can pretty much guarantee that there will be many missing game modes you will have to repurchase all over again.
40 disagrees for stating the obvious?
stay classy N4G.
you don't really know what Sony offered Nvidia. It could have been a laughable amount for all you know.
Nvidia has a hand in just about all areas of the technology world right now. The PS3 only went to show that they might see a return on their investment years down the road if at all. From a business standpoint it's a safe, smart move.
AMD doesn't have the luxury of being safe right now. They need to hit it big and soon or they will continue to ...
"they make good products but sometimes i get the feeling they are too big for their own ego. They need a good knocking down a peg or two once in a while to keep them grounded. "
Spoken like someone who has no idea of how the pc hardware market works.
Nvidia and AMD trade blows CONSTANTLY. It's a highly competitive market. There is no time for huge ego's in their business.
My guess is Nvidia didn't want to sell at a loss ...
my guess is part of the cost is being pushed on the consumer for choosing Windows over Linux. As you know an OEM license for windows is roughly $80-100.
GabeN has said from the beginning he wants nothing to do with M$ in the steambox venture. But because this is a 3rd party vendor they can do whatever they want with the specs they are given.
My guess is Valve invested in this company from the get go but after finding out they are going with Windows as the pri...
Don't put too much stock in titan. They already c said it was gonna be a casual more social experience. IMO the next gen mmo depends heavily on how occulus rift does
pretty dense considering Valve has already said if you have a gaming pc then Steambox is not for you.
@pixelsword
this is a 3rd party vendor version of a steambox. There will be many more vendors making these including Valve themselves.
BTW you aren't the intended audience. Steambox is meant for gamers who have always wanted to try in pc gaming but are intimidated by it. Most of N4G are console gamers.
Someone interested in pc gaming but too afraid to try it already knows that $1000 for worry free pc gaming is not too shabby considering ...
I use whatever is the best bang for buck. Last gen I recommended the GTX 570. The 5870 before that.
This gen the best bang for budget card if your looking for the high end is a 7970. The headroom for overclocking is insane usually somewhere between 1100 and 1150mhz without touching the voltage.
I mean for the same price as a 680 you get a card that performs the same if not better in some games and have enough for high quality SSD drive.
no 64 players could never have been done on the ps3. Did you not take into account the lack of physics, the crappy textures, and zero terrain destruction mag offered?
PC's aren't limited to 60fps. They can go higher should your monitor support it. 120hz monitors are dropping in price more these days.
Also pc's have the ability to play in eyefinity/Nvidia surround. I'm talking about 5000x1080 resolutions. Higher if you have a 16:10 monitor.
Of course he's not talking about this gen as ps4 specs are confirmed to be at a low/mid range gaming pc level.
Good to hear Tiqila.
I like AMD's stance on this. To let the gamers game even though they developed it.
Unlike Nvidia who keeps Physx proprietary on the pc side yet is about to give it to AMD APU's in next-gen consoles...
You'll notice here on N4G. Just the act of an article or comment not seeing eye to eye with the people here is often referred to as trolling.
I'm just going to attribute this to N4G user base growing as more younger people join. I don't think they know what trolling actually means.
GabeN doesn't have any issue with piracy. His stance on it is simple. Make a good game that's easier to obtain than pirating and the rest does itself. Steam just happens to be the goto platform in the gaming industry so these devs are reaping the rewards.
impressive. This is like an old school pc patch with the added features.
There is no BC on PC per se. BUT whenever Steam has seasonal sales. Publisher packs with games dating back generations ago are ALWAYS popular.
