than MK vs DC in every way. I enjoyed MK vs. DC and hope that the series can be genuinely reinvented in the next installment. Gimmicks can be fun (Joker vs Scorpion anyone?), but it doesn't stand as a true gaming evolution of the genre or series. I hope MK9 is that evolution, for both Midway, MK fans everywhere, and the series itself.
But 3 is doable and makes the most financial sense for all 3 console makers. Sony needs that amount of time to get their money back from investing in the PS3, Microsoft can use that time to increase brand recognition and make permanent their place in the gaming world, and Nintendo can use it to rake in the money in preparation for ensuing console generations.
Honestly, this generation of consoles has more to offer, and not just from a technological point of view, than any preceding. Also, factor in the development costs of both consoles and games and all players involved, industry wide, will benefit from a 6 or 7 year life cycle.
I find that those who actually spent a real amount of time with the title grew to thoroughly enjoy. Also, the mass appeal of popular DC characters is big. MK already has its fans, but DC has tons of them.
Although not ALWAYS a guarantee of success, quality is appreciated by gamers on any console.
That Xbox 360 and PS3 are neck and neck. Additionally, I am confident that Midway will push more resources to the Wii. As much as I would prefer them to focus on only the Hardcore, developing for the Wii is too Cheap, easy, and the market too big for the platform to be ignored.
Zombie Tech Demo Game or Psi Ops 2. That would rock my little world.
think British Stereotypes are accurate or true. Rock on, Britain.
No wonder the population is relatively Stagnant! ;) Just kidding!
Really though, if you ask gamers about a brand new anticipated game, then of course you are going to get this kind of response. If you asked Skydivers the same question - Skydive or sex - or any other exuberant hobbyist, and you will get similar answers. If you have a decent girlfriend of wife, sex is a wonderful, but oft-occurring event. New, anticipated game releases are not.
Every man like's sex, ...
It is a genuine reassessment of the quality of Killzone 2 after the hype has died down. It does not mention sales, only a discussion of gameplay, server reliability, etc...
Haven't you learned you shouldn't judge a book by its cover?
I'm never doing that again. My exclusives are staying in my library this time.
Been waiting for this. I've been playing Killzone, but it is time to change discs and once more Kick some Chimera @ss!
Gonna be difficult finding time to play both the Resistance 2 update and "The Pitt" expansion for Fallout 3. :) I'm a lucky man.
I salute you for making me genuinely laugh.
Those dogs are not real! Turns out NO dogs or animals were injured in the production of Call of Duty: World at War!
It seems like every couple of months PETA chooses yet another random thing at which to take offense. Do they need attention or something?
Plus, I would love to see the video game industry vs. Peta in anything. Talk about an ass kicking.
The correct Title is "Kama" Sutra. Way to do absolutely ZERO research for your article. A simple google or yahoo search would have corrected this ridiculously simple oversight.
Lets hear it for sub-par video game journalism.
but Home CURRENTLY sucks. That doesn't mean it always will, but can we call a spade a spade please?
The fact is, Home has been in development since EARLY 2005!!!! Another popular PS3 product has also been in development that long. It is an amazing game called Killzone 2. When I look at how long both took to develop and see just how much better Killzone 2 is than Home, how can I not look at Home and think "4 years of development and this is it?" I then immediately ex...
all the way...but I wouldn't mind a new Stranglehold installment either. That was a seriously underrated game.
deserves a break. They are an icon of the games industry.
and constitutes a worthwhile read.
Midway's situation right now is a potential future for many developers in the face of rising development costs. If Midway can fall so far and then (hopefully) come back, other developers can take note and learn from Midway's experience. Lets hope that Matt Booty is truly the right man for the job.
Look at some of the trends of PC gaming in general. I love PC gaming, and although I'm not one of those "PC gmaming is dying" idiots, there really is more money in consoles. Look at Crysis, for example.
