Don't get me wrong, I'm not against consoles in any shape or form. I am simply one who has seen first hand the true benefits of having an alternative option for "High Def" gaming.
For example, last night I played the Left 4 Dead 2 demo on PC via Steam and then moved to the Xbox 360 demo to compare. The results will not surprise you; the PC version blew the 360 demo right out of the water. From control, to customization, to textures, draw distance, lighting, and anti...
It is also refreshing to see a gamer back up his talk with real life action.
I too yearn for those rare products that have been made with great pride and care, the games that defy genre (Brutal Legend), expand traditional perceptions (like Mass Effect for RPGs), and tell a compelling story.
I think you are on to something. People who avidly follow the industry - and are not blindly dedicated to one platform - are genuinely having second thoughts about MW2. It's the fanboys and uneducated public that gobble up any established series. Additionally, I don't even mean to say that their is something wrong with having a favorite series. I simply mean that every time an original game is ignored in favor of something done before the creative minds in the industry suffer.
...
Sure, its a great game, but merely an improvement on an already proven formula. Where is the new direction? Where is the true artistic risk? Give it to Batman, Borderlands, Brutal Legend or the many others that start something, not a game rolling on previous success.
MW2 sells millions following the same formula as its predecessors while original, compelling titles like Brutal Legend, Borderlands, Dragon Age, and countless others see 1/10th the success.
BaaaAAAaaa, BaaaAAAAaaaAAAA!!! Sheep, you are all sheep.
will make or break this title.
But this is still good news for newcomers. I'm just glad I still have backwards compatibility.
I have heard out of Infinity Ward this quarter.
much less pre-ordering it. Don't get me wrong, the COD series has been a blast, but having played every iteration thus far this generation (COD 3, COD 4, and COD WAW) I've just plain played this series to death. Additionally, the increased price many players throughout the world are facing to play this game, coupled with the lack of dedicated servers for PC gamers, makes me think Infinity Ward is taking just a few too many liberties this time around.
As an alternative I'm pla...
As I commented on Gamespot's Dragon Age 360 review:
"I love my consoles - seeing as I regularly game on PS3 & 360 - but games appearing on all three platforms simply run better, with more options, on a powerful gaming PC. It is simple logic that consoles with specs from 2005 (360) and 2006 (PS3) don't have the capability of a PC built specifically for gaming in October 2009.
Anyway, I'm still loving Uncharted 2 on PS3 and Borderlands on 360."

I've heard similar things about the visuals and art direction improving as you progress through the game. There is likely some truth to this rumor.

Look at my comment above. It boggles my mind every time someone on N4G "disagrees" with a statement...that contains nothing but a positive assertion. Like, "I'm legally downloading this title on Steam Right now" and somebody disagrees. What on Earth are they even disagreeing with? They can disagree all they want, but the physical reality is that the information actually is downloading as I type. Kind of like saying "Microsoft owns XBox and Sony owns Playstation&qu...
through Steam. I'm thrilled. I'm happy to see the overall scores, from Game Informer, IGN, and many more are all high. The lowest I have seen is a respectable 8.4 from IGN AU. Should prove to be a worthy purchase.
I can crank the graphics to levels the consoles will never see. Don't get me wrong, I love console gaming, but Massive RPGs with countless items like this scream to be played on PC with a mouse and keyboard for all too many reasons.
I can't wait to download the deluxe version of Dragon Age.
and with no real preference for either character, Nomad in his nano suit felt much more powerful than master chief. Turning invisible, sneaking behind a guy, and then hitting him after turning on super strenghth mode as Nomad was a sight to behold. It was just awesome.
and that Microsoft's instant 1080p service will be able to serve as a replacement option for Netflix. Even if that is the case, i'm ALREADY paying for Netflix and getting the service through multiple platforms, namely my PC, laptop, PS3, and eventually Wii. With that kind of availability in comparison to just a premium service on my 360, the Netflix is still a better deal. It gives me the freedom to move about the world and still watch my instant queue without buying a zune HD.
Oh well, as long the gaming community accepts this Blizzard will keep it up.
