No company can get everything right.
Sony will take what lessons they can and move onto the PSP2.
Nothing risked nothing gained.
Every single game on this list looks fantastic.
I have seen a few articles in the last couple of days about a possible Wii 2 and Xbox 3. It's starting to feel like the next gen is closing in on us.
I also think MS will release the Xbox3 first. But I wonder what storage media they will go with?
Common sense would have me think they would just suck it up and go Blue Ray, But sneaky old uncle Microsoft might have something else in mind.
Looking forward to this one.
I loved GUN, but just wanted it to be more. Ya know?
I don't even pretend to be an expert in this technical stuff as I'm just a humble gamer.
But I think we might see a new Xbox sooner then later, Sony have done a superb job with the PS2's life span and thats something I think Microsoft can look to emulate with the 360.
The 360 has a large install base with good graphics and some 300+ games. So theirs no reason to ditch it like the original Xbox. Natal would probably be compatible for the 360 and the "Nextbox"...
I'm sorry to all the haters, but I personally cannot wait for Natal.
I would buy it for the Breakout game alone. I could just see that one little game being addictive as hell. Both my wife and I have a competitive streak so I can already picture us trying to beat the others score.
If all we get from Natal is casual games, that wouldn't bother me at all as long as they are fun.
Mass Effect is a great series, and the more gamers that get to experience it the better.
On one hand I kind of feel for Microsoft on this one, they have a great RPG franchise in Mass Effect and I'm sure that they would not like to see it go multiplatform.
But Microsoft had their chance to buy Boiware and done nothing. They seem to think that building relationships and writing cheques for developers will be enough. If Mass Effect does go to the PS3, I hope Microso...
I would love to return to the Jade Empire.
But what the hell do we have to do to get KOTOR3?
Perhaps Microsoft should just buy Epic.
They seem to have a love affair with the UE anyway, and it would stop the Gears of War and Shadow Complex franchise's from ever going multiplat.
They could also use the extra first party development.
Just my two cents.
I don't think doing something like this could hurt.
I mean Avatars have to be used for something right?
And a lot of hardcore gamers still love to play the old retro coin-ups.
So whats the problem with it?
If more companies are working on the same tech wouldn't that mean it has a better chance of success.
If consumers see televisions with gesture controls from one company, and game consoles and PCs also with gesture controls from another, that can only help the adoption rate of the tech right?
Edit: Sorry Alcon Caper. I did not intend to repeat your comment.
Looks like blueray is going to become the new standard for hard copy movies and games. Thats something to look forward to over the next few years. And well done to Sony for backing the format from the get go, unlike Microsoft with HD-DVD.
I personally still find nothing wrong with the standard DVD quality, but that will change as blueray becomes even more popular.
I will adopt blueray in time.
Yup. Thats probably about right.
Got to do something with your avatar I suppose.
I can agree that Sony probably has a wider audience than Nintendo.
But taking more risks? I'm sorry but thats just a lie. Sony have taken some big risks with the eyetoy and bluray, but as na-no-nai has already said Sega took on the risk for CD.
Nintendo have always been taking risks. The D-pad was a risk, the analog controller, rumble, staying with a cartridge based console when every other console on the market used CDs, motion controls, and going after the casu...
I'm 29.
Microsoft still has room to adjust the price of DL games. If they don't sell at their current price I'm sure they will change the price.
I don't believe that Microsoft will give up in Japan.
But I don't think it would be a bad idea for them to refocus their efforts in the US and EU markets. Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are smaller markets that are still anyone's for the taking.
Microsoft not long invested quite a bit of money into South Korea game development also.
Is the Japanese market really as important as it once was?
No. Natal will not be Microsoft's last hope for Japan. As long as Microsoft are supporting the xbox brand they will continue to chip away at the Japanese market.
Could Natal be a success in Japan? If Microsoft could release a exclusive, high profile JRPG with Natal controls?
Maybe?
I'm not saying there gonna take Japan by storm or anything, but if they do it right they could greatly improve their market share.
I think the PSP brand is still trying to find itself a little bit.
If the PSP Go turns out to be a flop it may get looked back on like the Nintendo Virtual Boy. One hiccup in an otherwise successful line up.
I don't think Sony give the PSP brand the support it needs.
