The developers are publishers are trying to brainwash you into accepting the idea that software is a magical, new kind of good that needs special new draconian consumer property rules to protect the developer/publisher's interests above all other considerations. People forget that Bungie was pretty close to being shut down when MS bought them. ONI was a mess and they lost a lot of money recalling Myth 2 because of it's bug that wiped a hard drive if you installed it to your root (which is admittedly stupid) and then tried to uninstall it.

No, the cell cannot do memory. It's a processor. The SPU's use the tiny amount of fast "memory" they have to talk to each other the main core. That's all that "memory" can do. It can't serve as more RAM for the system.

I'd say a pretty good 360 would be six-core powerpc chip at 3 GHz, two GPU's (one DX-11 level expensive one to do most of the work, and one cheaper for Phys-X type stuff and some video-device/tuner functions and some full screen post processing), 3 Gigs of memory, an easily swappable HDD, last years sound system, and boom, there ya go. Focus on doing 720P really well at fast frame rates and 1080P at decent frame rates with more stuff on the screen at once. Don't bother with higher...

I've been playing them too and most of them just don't have much staying power for me. From what I've seen the only people who are overwhelmed by supposedly vast quality and variety of the PS3 exclusive library are the people who are stuck with it.
