Publishers don't deserve any money from trade ins. They have put no capital at risk in the used business and have actively tried to undercut it so they don't deserve any revenue from it. They already got ALL of the revenue due them at the first point of sale.
Without used game retailers a lot of new sales just aren't going to happen at current prices. Why would normal people who don't collect games buy a game they can't resell? Who will pay $60 when they can't knock $15-$30 off the price of a new game? Instead everyone will wait for the games price to drop to $20-$30 or do some research and start pirating PC versions. No the 360 doesn't lack variety. It has racing, jrpgs, wrpgs, fighters, flight-sim games, arcadey shmups, platformers, etc.

Jumping (bunny hopping) actually works much better in twitchier like Quake Live and Unreal Tournament III. It can ruin some people's aim but anyone with their joystick sensitivity turned up and their thumb USED TO IT will not have much trouble shooting you in a jump. In Halo movement is a little slow to make jumping much of a shield.
If you can't track a guy who jumped then you really don't have shooting skills yet. And if you are using a whole clip just to kill one guy you likewise probably don't have any real shooting skills yet.
If you can get an angle on his back and he's distracted...go for it. Otherwise you'd better be really lucky.
There's a timing to shooting the DMR properly (or at least there was during the beta). Fire it too fast and it jerks spoiling your aim. Fire ti too slow and you won't get shots into the target fast enough to overwhelm his shield. Use at too extreme of a range and it doesn't do much. Use it at too close of a range and it underperforms compared to the pistol. Try to mainly use it for head shots while in motion at medium range and try learn the optimal firing rate with the muscles in...
