Okay in regards to it being divisive I'll agree with that. But it was a solid game though. Better than KZ3 and Shadow Fall imo.
And I also agree that the Order should get a sequel if the devs are willing and learn from their mistakes. Like you mentioned there are examples of past games that have done poorly critic-wise and still have spawned sequels so why not.

I'm a huge fan of 7 and think it's the best in the series. Yet I don't mind them going away from turn based combat. I would have prefered that they do a better version of FFXII's system, but the Kingdom Hearts/XV route ain't bad at all, at least for me.

Yes the criteria for sales for any particular game changes depending on a variety of factors. This is nothing new. If a new GTA sold 1 million copies across all platforms that would be considered a huge flop. Whereas a million for Gravity Rush would be a smashing success for the game. This isn't some conspiracy, but common sense.

According to gangsta_red any game that doesn't sell 600k+ units week one "didn't sell well." Any rational/logical attempt to explain why a certain game selling sub 600k is actually not bad on the surface is dubbed the "niche excuse." All games no matter it's budget nor it's mainstream appeal must sell at least 800k week one or else it's a flop.
