After reading the article I see that IGN was talking about in terms of the amount of revenue brought in and the fact that gaming is more mainstream now.
As far the games go this gen is definitely not the golden age. I'd say the PS1/N64 or the PS2/Xbox/Dreamcast/Game Cube days was the golden age of gaming.

Camping has more to do with the game than it does the player. The way CoD plays it promotes camping. Low health and High bullet damage combined with super accurate guns forces players to play super cautious, so much to the point people just stay at one spot and wait for people to come to them instead of looking for opponents to kill.

Those who pre-ordered got in on the 15th. It releases on the 22nd I believe. I don't plan on getting a Vita until the price drops which I plan to wait a year or two for.
Don't really get how you can list reasons on why the Wii U will win next gen when you know next to nothing about the next Xbox and PS4. One of those systems can contain something very appealing to the mass market that no one could have predicted just like no body could have predicted that the Wii's motion controls would appeal to the masses as everyone expected the PS3 to dominate because of the PS2's success.

Are you serious? The only people that buy PS1/PS2 games on the PS store are people that don't have the games to begin with. You can already play PS1 games on the PS3 and as for PS2 games like I said before if you already have the game you wouldn't buy it off the PS store.
As for HD collections, I doubt that they'll be affected at all if the PS4 could play PS2 games. I own all the metal gear games and bought the HD collection anyway. I have all...

Casual games dominate the market. There are less games that require skill than there was before. There are less games with thought provoking stories than there were before.
And for the record blood and gore first person shooters =/= hardcore gaming. Hardcore games are games with depth (i.e Metal Gear). Go back to playing your wii fit please.
