bungie has great models and amazing lighting in halo3 but something about the texture work just makes it not look that great
at some points during the campaign things looks really great but it seems that everything is too clean and that makes it hard to believe
maybe they will grunge this one up a little? the trailer looks pretty grimey, chip up that armor a little bit and make it look like it has been used and the game would look a lot better

with the terrain deformation and the the unique weapons this could have been big, and multiplayer could ahve been epic but they just didn't go that extra bit with it

actually the name refers to the finished look, it makes it look like an animation film cel or the pieces of acetate animation was/is drawn on
basically all that cel shading is is flat colored textures with gradiated shading, bright lighting, and most importantly a black line that is drawn around the 3d object
the shadows can be more than 1 tone, it is all about preference, that picture you posted is actually from a 3d rendering tutorial as an introduction to cel shad...
auto modellista was one cool looking game, i jsut wish it had been a better racer, one of the few games i played online on ps2
two worlds was terrible
that developer was responsible for some of the most outrageous bullshots in history and passing them as in game
that game let down a lot of people, considering it barely ran at all
people will still buy it though and that is the problem with these games
they sell you a game that is simple to program and weak from a tech standpoint and sell you these cheap plastic instruments that have regularly been faulty upon the launch (rock band strum bar, guitar hero 3 neck, guitar hero 2 whammy, rock band drum pedal break with moderate use)
