Both are basically dead IMO.
Looking at Famitsu hardware sales for the week of 9/5:
Switch 182,876
PS5 2,864
Xbox S|X 459
Hard to say anyone is selling well in JP other than Nintendo, sure MS are doing worse than Sony, but Sony's drop off in JP over the last few years has been insane - that is a bigger story than MS staying in largely the same position.
Now you just sound like a conspiracy theorist. We haven't seen contracts for ANY game on Switch, Xbox or PS. So are they all fake? Interesting take.
Cross-gen in 2023, nice. Hopefully doesn't hold back the PS5 version too much.
Nintendo Switch is completely dominating both PS and Xbox in Japan and definitely qualifies as outdated tech.
(and thats not a hit on the Switch, I love my Switch, but lets be honest, Nintendo doesn't do recent hardware).
@XiNatsu Sure, but this'll probably end up similar to what we saw with Yakuza. They brought the old games, and are now bringing the new ones day 1.
Also the 600k was to a European studio, not Japanese. It was for Cooking Simulator, and was never actually verified as accurate.
@darkrider "they need to pay millions to get games. Like they did with Kojima."
Do you think Kojima makes Sony exclusives for free? lol. Business is ...
What? Are we still living in denial? Kojima himself has announced the game, there's no rumor about it anymore. lol
It will be funny, if after all the years of drama with the Abandoned game, and everyone giving up hope on it, it does turn out to be one big long Kojima ruse.
I've kinda given up on it too, but the one thing that still strikes me as weird is Sony giving them a blog post and blasting it out etc, I don't believe they do that for just any small indie game/dev.
If you read the source article (which unfortunately is behind one of those randomized paywalls), it says companies rarely offer any concessions in phase 1 because they are very rarely accepted in phase 1 - so you end up double dipping and offering extra concessions in phase 2.
No one is saying GP is free. But I already subscribe to gamepass, so assuming they don't increase the price or add extra tiers when COD arrives in it, it's just a value add for me, and yes, lets me stop sinking money into COD.
They just announced a whole bunch of Japanese games at TGS that are coming to GamePass. Games like blazblue, guilty gear strive, ni no kuni and a whole bunch more. Kojimas next new IP is an Xbox exclusive too.
Certainly doesn’t look like JP devs are skipping Xbox to me. More like they’re doubling down on it.

It turned out to just be a VR world:

Likely the Kojima Horror game. Konami will rue the day they scrapped Kojima + Silent Hills.
KJP are saying they won’t reveal any new titles at TGS however: https://twitter.com/KojiPro...
But perhaps they mean on their own / standalone and some new game will show up during the press conferences, which would mean Xbox, 505 or Konami (unlikely) conferences.
The current state of Metal Gear & Silent Hill says all you need to know about Konami.
The tech looks like a big step forward from PSVR1 (but will likely be quickly exceeded in the PC space) - it does makes me wonder what the price point will be. I'm expecting it to cost as much as the PS5 itself.
Some of these VR games feel like a cheap arcade game based on the original though (and this isn't unique to PSVR). Look at Horizon for example, the combat looks slow and soul-less, it's not even close to HZD or HFW in terms of action, pace & exciteme...
There was a valid report on it from Christopher at the time I commented. I have now approved it.
And yes, a deal of this size (within and outside of gaming) should always be reviewed.
EDIT: Scrap that, noticed an issue with the article.
Everyone expected this acquisition to be scrutinized, even Microsoft - that's why they tempered expectations that it won't close until 2023. The internet will explode on the day that this deal closes.
Looking forward to this closing though, this year will be the last year I sink money into Call of Duty.
It has Sony printed on the box, it's bound to be expensive. Won't be as expensive as the Edge though obviously.
It is a darn nice looking controller though.
They've confirmed that the Xbox version will have updated controls, including twin stick controls.
For NSO, since it's just the ROM emulated, it will probably play like the original.
I'm fine with what we're getting, and quite frankly surprised we're getting anything given how much of a licensing hell this game is in between MS, Nintendo, Amazon & Pierce Brosnan.
Also would rather have the Xbox version than Nintendo since it has improved framerate, res etc. The NSO version is just the ROM emulated & online multiplayer will be weird - it's still split screen just 'emulated networking'.
Plus it's very...
But how do you know they are being worked on? You aren't on the dev team and you have not seen any contracts?
