Pretty much. It's only not a win-win if you're Sony. Mostly everyone else is fine with it at this point - and more gamers than ever will have access to COD.
They didn't say which Nintendo console, just that they were bringing it to 'Nintendo players'.
Realistically, by the time this deal goes through, and they port COD and it's engine etc, you're probably looking at Switch 2. I wouldn't expect to see this year or next years COD on a Nintendo platform, unless it's streamed.
I don't see that happening - they will want to make acquisitions again in the future, either as Xbox or other parts of Microsoft, so they will need to be well behaved.
COD isn't the be all and end all that people make it out to be - especially to a huge company like Microsoft.
Not really my kinda thing. Hopefully they're near being ready to unveil the next mainline Doom entry.
"Cod is too big to be in hands of Microsoft, sony or anyone else."
We all know darkrider would be championing this deal if it were Sony buying them. The hypocrisy is real.
Lol, exactly. It would suddenly be great for the industry and gamers.
That’s not how these contracts work though.
When you agree to license your content to a service, the contract also includes endpoints/devices.
Same goes for physical and digital media, that’s why we don’t just have every PS1/2/3 game on PS+ for example. It’s also why only approved XB360 disks will work on an XB1/XSX.
Similarly, not all Steam games appear on GF Now - the developer must opt-in.
@darkrider PlayStation publishes games on Steam.
The only way that can not be third party publishing is if Sony have bought Steam/Valve, which to the best of my knowledge - they have not.
Switch gamers are empowered
GeForce streamers are empowered
GP customers are empowered.
Sony forced nothing, the regulators did.
The deals show the system works - the regulators did their job, and we consumers are getting a better deal post-acquisition than we had pre-acquisition.
Sony did the exact same thing. Sony discredited all of their amazing first party games by saying basically they're nothing compared to COD, and their very talented studios couldn't create a similar shooter game.
They're both trying to appear weak in the eyes of regulators.
But now, as a PS gamer, I feel that Sony should come to the table and sign a deal, they need COD and I can't imagine not being able to get COD on my PS. They owe it to t...
And yet, the viewpoint isn't exclusive to me. A lot of the reviewers mentioned the same things. It's sitting in the low 60's on Metacritic for a reason - and not because of me, I am not a reviewer on Metacritic.
The thing this author seems to have forgotten is that regulators are here to protect consumers, not Sony.
If Microsoft can get to a point where consumers are empowered, which they appear to be doing, regulators ultimately won't care about how Sony feels.
A lot of words there, and yet, none of what you wrote means anything when it comes to if the game is good or not, and if the protagonist is annoying or not.
Forspoken is bad, we've known that for a while now, no amount of social issues, goalpost moving or cope will fix that.
Well, they're right. Who knows how gaming will be in 10 years, heck even 10 years for these contracts is a really long time for a gaming contract.
They've gone above and beyond the call of duty (pun 100% intended) with these contracts, and they are more than fair.
Now that everyone else has signed up, it just looks petty and pathetic on Sony's part if they don't come to the table.
Nothing to do with her gender or ethnicity, or the actor. It's purely the narrative writers fault.
I don't ever recall this being controversial?
Good game though, would be cool if it came to the platform - we just need proper back compat.
@Sierra "Uh actually if it plays even one game at 8k and 60fps it IS an 8k box"
So it's a 720p box then... there is one game at 720p.
I personally wouldn't say that about the console, but you set that bar not me.
"So the goal is to remove these games from PlayStation"
That's not what they said at all. And 99% of Xbox games were never on PlayStation to start with.
Also, GeForce Now just streams your existing library games, so the games aren't coming free, you'll need to own a license via some other means (e.g. Steam).
Nothing is stopping COD from appearing on PlayStation Extra - Sony can cut a check to make that happen at an...
"One of the biggest concerns for the VR downplayers is no longer a thing. I'm pleased for them!
Genuinely curious, which one of the main negatives of VR does having another RE VR game solve? 🤔
