What's wrong with counting active users? Active users spend money, inactive users/unused consoles do not.
Console sales are inaccurate too - Hardware is sold at a loss - I have a PS4 and a PS4 Pro, but I don't buy games/subscriptions twice - so why should I be counted as two customers?
It's normal to have a lack of exclusives at launch. How many AAA exclusives does PS5 have? 1-2? Great (and that's coming from a PS5 player...)
I would +1 this. There's also something nice about buying a console 6-12 months after release, getting home and already having a large set of exclusive & 3rd party games to play.
Buying at launch feels like being in a game drought, with some barely improved cross-gen games.

Remake the original. Twin Snakes was way too easy because it was the original level design, but with all the new MGS2 stuff added on (e.g. lockers, first person shooting, etc.).
MGS is owned by Konami. Doubt it is exclusive to anything (if it even exists).
I'm unsure why any gamer would think making a game exclusive is 'awesome' though or 'honoring' anything.

Why would Microsoft look to a last gen console to usher in a new era? I don't see Sony looking at PS4 or Nintendo at WiiU to usher in their new era.

Lots of people still play Halo. MCC is great nowadays.
But you are right on one thing - it will not break sales records - because the MP is F2P and the SP is in Game Pass.
But that just furthers the point that sales are not everything nowadays / the sign of a successful product, especially as the industry moves towards being more service oriented.
