@badz Well that just isn’t true - I give Sony, MS and Nintendo props when they do something well and criticism when they do things wrong. None of them are perfect.
A sata SSD would obviously not be a feasible solution - but right now, what benefit are we seeing from gen 4? A couple of seconds? It’s not worth the extra expense.
Neither company is really handling the expandable storage situation great. Xbox is expensive and PS5 is still expensive and compli...
@Mr Logic "2.4 vs 5.5 is in no way a 'tad bit slower'."
And yet we barely see any difference in load times and every game that is possible to develop on PS5 is also possible on XSX/XSS.
Sony could've gone with a PCIe 3 drive like MS, but offered non-proprietary options. Then the drive prices would've been very low... $100 for 1TB and $50 for 500gb.
That is one ugly controller. Who the hell wants a controller with a McDonalds logo, fries and a burger on it?
What? Why and where?
I’m interested to see how well this performs on Switch - there is a lot of AI on screen at once…
@waverider "Of course some will say but its not plug and play. It is, but its inside the console and the design of the PS5 isnt compromise with something sticking out...."
If you need to power off your console and open it up with a screw driver, it is not plug and play.
Also, the Xbox drive sticks out for about an inch or less... at the rear of the console... it's a much more elegant solution than what Sony are imposing on everyone.
@waverider "Can you accept that the SSD of the Xbox Series is not next gen,"
If it's not next-gen and only the PS5 is next-gen, how can it run the same next-gen games as PS5? 🤷♂️
That’s subjective (as is my advice). I have a reason to buy/own all 3 today, but haven’t managed to find all 3 unfortunately.
Interested to see what this is but I do wonder how they’ll ever compete against huge companies with lots of R&D dollars like NVidia while also being out of the industry for so long.
The solution is pretty gross for consumers.
If I really want to dissect gaming hardware to install PC components - I will buy a PC.
The best thing to do is to ignore the console war and buy all 3 - then you are truly winning as a gamer.
I'm having fun with it, feels like old halo is back. They definitely made the right decision to delay it by a year.
Can't wait to try out the PVP.
I'm impressed by the performance on the S - it looks good and runs at a stable 120hz. Not bad for $299.
This game is actually pretty awesome - I had a lot more fun with it than I expected and probably wouldn't have tried it / paid for it if it wasn't on Game Pass.
And this is why you run technical previews/beta tests.
I've been trying it on XB1 and it actually looks pretty decent, perf is OK - huge improvement over what we saw last year and that wasn't even on the weaker XB1...
By that logic, all of the achievements by PS5 and Switch are also not an achievement...
Either selling more is an achievement, or it isn't.
This is literally the point of a technical test.
75 Metacritic on PC though somehow... with more reviews: https://www.metacritic.com/...
Not bad for a company with 11 employees.
These instructions & spec requirements will be totally easy for soccer moms to understand...
Psychonauts 2 is my #1 game for August. I cannot wait!
