Exactly. ~40m people already spent $500 on a console this generation, don't force them to change mid-gen, that will just frustrate gamers.
MS will wait for next gen to be coming around and then the messaging will be "If you to keep playing COD, buy an Xbox X One Series XYZ" (or whatever terrible naming their marketing department comes up with).
The service is a service for acquiring... games. People are already happy with the games, soon to be further supplemented with Activision games.
This is basically a price decrease for anyone who can find some friends (or some randoms on reddit/discord).
The answer is obviously no, and it has been no for years. They've already outstayed their welcome with the franchise.
"In January, we provided a signed agreement to Sony to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation, with feature and content parity"
Content parity? Good guy Phil Spencer, given that Sony has paid to ensure COD did not have content parity / kept content off other platforms.
The 'several more years' part all but means it's exclusive at some point though (probably next gen).
@MrNino There’s no official account sharing on PS+ and I don’t want to login to someone else’s console (if that exploit still works).
And even then you’re limited to 1 PS5, 1 PS4.
This doesn’t require you to share any credentials or anything like that. And the combination / types of consoles doesn’t matter either.
Also PS+ doesn’t have day 1 first party games, until it does it can’t be considered close at all.

This comment would only make sense if Sony had founded and not purchased Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerrilla, Bungie, Firesprite, Housemarque, Bend, Bluepoint, SD studio, Sucker Punch, Media Molecule to name but a few.
Turns out all corporations splash the cash to gain share in the market 🤦♂️
So does Activision and their employees.
It’s $60 a year - in 2023 that’ll get you Starfield, Forza, Redfall, MLB, COD and whatever else Microsoft Studios, Activision and Zenimax launch next year.
Plus a bunch of third party day 1 titles and indie titles. And throw in XBL gold, EA Play and Xcloud for good measure.
It’s a no brainer at that price point. No other subscription service even comes close.
Yep. People are going to eat this deal up.
Still amazes me that we’ll get the annual COD games in this service. Plus the rest of Activision games.
Also, here's the Ireland page so you can read it in English: https://www.xbox.com/en-ie/...
So $20-25 bucks here in the states for 5 subscribers, who don't even have to be in your household/family, so $5 per person? That's insane. Probably the best deal we've seen in gaming.
It looks like this includes PC and console games too? If I understood correctly.
(EDIT: Answered my own question, this is Ultimate, so includes PC, XBox, Streaming, XBL Gold and EA Play).
So what is this? a remake of AC1? If so, I may be very interested, if they don't screw it up / make it a 'modern Ubisoft cookie cutter game'.
It will be a huge and consistent/guaranteed annual title for the service.
I’d always assumed it would come to GamePass after the acquisition but it’s good to have it confirmed in writing.
Won’t stop the deal going through obviously and they still have a window to respond and address their concerns to avoid going to the in depth review.
But I think they handled it perfectly by just responding with that other blog post they put out.
There’s some serious buttering up of legislators going on in this blog post.

Those are hardly comparable situations.
FF7 and Crash were from the 90s so there were a good few decades passed before they got remakes.
Meanwhile this game is the third full price release for it in under a decade - with the most recent being fully playable on PS5 and not looking or playing that much differently from this new release.
Crash was also a $40 remake for 3 games… this is $70 for a single game that doesn’t even have all the c...
By media do you mean streamed media or BD? If streamed, Plex is available on the store and is 10x better than anything else, including the “built in” one.
This looks like a fun little indie game. I'll be trying it out day 1. It's also coming to GamePass for those who are subscribed.
It always annoys me when companies skimp out on the shipping when someone is buying a premium product.
I've had numerous games arrive with the plastic casing smashed up, my PS5 also arrived with the paper wrapping all ripped & the box bashed, which sure it's just a box, but it's a premium product & new shiny electronics have a unique unboxing experience.
Hopefully they fix it or refund it.
