My point was simply that this is not a true “built from the ground up for PS5” experience and that we will clearly see WAY better visuals from ND as soon as they launch a new, “real” PS5 experience - and that I will buy day 1.
😀
I used to spend so much time as a kid just reading the manual before playing my new game lol. Some were so well designed too, like the MGS manuals.
I do miss paper manuals, but it is better for the planet to no longer have them - plus digital games exist now, and tutorials are more in-game now than on paper which is an improvement.
If he has spent $500+ (or any dollar value) on the console and games, he’s a PlayStation gamer and is invested in the PS ecosystem and is therefore entitled to his opinion on the direction of things etc, doesn’t matter if he has 1 trophy or a million trophies 🤷
@xetiro Thanks for sharing - I stand corrected on the %, but standby my comment about a cost reduction while simultaneously bumping up prices.
I don’t think this game should’ve been cross-gen, In fact, on console, I don’t think it really needed to exist at all - certainly not at $70.
And it definitely doesn’t look like a title that was “built for the ground up for PS5”. Clearly when ND does make a game from the ground up for PS5, it’ll absolutely blow this out of the water.
It doesn’t look exactly the same but close enough - minor improvements.
If you think this is the best the PS5 and ND can do, you’re going to be surprised.
Their next game, and the first one REALLY built for the PS5 from the ground up (really from the ground up, not marketing talk like with this game) will look substantially better than TLOU2 and TLOU remaster #2.
Mobile gaming is already well and truly on the map - it’s bigger than console and PC gaming combined.
And there are some very big players there like King (Activision) and Zynga (Take2).
This developer is a minnow by comparison and won’t “put anything on the map”.
He’s not complaining about crossgen vs next-gen. I believe he’s more so talking about the fact that they are marketing it as being built from the ground up for PS5 while basically looking like the PS4 TLOU2 game.
And I’d be inclined to agree - TLOU2 was a good looking game - but the PS5 can clearly deliver much better visuals than what is being shown here, and a game “built from the ground up” (especially by a developer like ND) would demonstrate that.

Woo! I’m excited for more Mafia, especially after the remake which was handled very well.
@garryxcs “It makes no sense for them to raise prices on xbox in Japan though considering they don't sell well there anyway.”
Neither do Sony consoles but they still did it anyway 🤷
This article is about Japan, which had about a 20-21% increase:
Japan (effective Sept. 15, 2022):
PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥60,478 yen (¥49,980 before)
PS5 Digital Edition – ¥49,478 yen (¥39,980 before)

I think you've picked the wrong idiom... something making your skin crawl is typically a negative thing.
Also, Gameloft was bought out entirely by Vivendi a few years ago.
"working on a new unannounced AAA mobile live service action game"
Yay... where do I sign up.
A cost reduction while increasing the price by ~20% 🤑
MGSV was a good evolution of MGS for sure - but not the strongest MGS entry by a long shot.
That plus the Konami drama that resulted in it being incomplete kinda screwed us over - but it’s still a more fun playthrough than DS.
Yeah I saw the ‘confirmation’ but it’s not a game I’ll rush out and buy day 1 again.
What would you say the best two are then? MGS 2+3?
I’d love for him to get back to MGS and Silent Hills but obviously that’s just a pipe dream thanks to Konami. I am interested to see what his new Xbox IP is and what his new rumored horror game will be like (I believe they are separate games).
Either way, still a huge Kojima fan - he’s my favorite desig...
The game was just “ok” for me.
I ended up basically forcing myself to play through it because it had Kojimas name on the box.
Ultimately, of his 3D games, it is by far his weakest game and I wouldn’t be sad if there wasn’t a DS2 and he went onto something else.
This is a huge win for consumers, especially during the economic downturn.
I’m surprised they didn’t try and lock it down to same household like Netflix (although they’ve technically failed to do so) - the fact you can share the sub with anyone is kinda crazy.
“When are you going to stop with the absurd suggestions? ”
Not absurd at all - you said it’s a quality system worth the price so I’m asking how much you think it’s worth - how much should Jim raise the prices by?
The sad part here, for myself and everyone who games on PS, is that we are well and truly back into PS3-era Sony and we as consumers are going to pay the cost of allowing that to occur.
“ I own a windows pc and a 360 with well over $500 worth of value. I guess that makes me an xbox gamer by that logic, right? ”
Correct, if you own the thing and play games on it, then you are clearly a gamer on that platform. I’m not sure how else you could possibly define it.
And yes, if you own the thing you are certainly entitled to be negative and criticize things when they aren’t as you wish.
