I think the semi-open world format helped God of War. God of War 1-3 never pulled me in like this one did, it never felt like you were in the action or world that you were playing in. There are a couple of things I would personally change about the game, but they're mainly minor inconveniences. The game was overall a masterpiece and will probably, rightfully, win game of the year.
@OpenGL That was sort of my point. He said that collectibles in God of War aren’t mundane, but they are. There are pretty much mundane collectibles/activities in every platinum. Spider-Man, God of War, it doesn’t matter how good the game is.
Great game, if it wasn’t so short I would also give it a 10.. they should have focused a bit more on story missions and a bit less on optional activities.
Every time I see a vita article I get sad. This thing had some promise, and Sony just completely let all of that promise die. Mine has been collecting dust for years. I was just holding out for that rumored bioshock game :(

Sorry buddy, but being someone who found all of the ravens, I can say that it was super mundane. It was the only time when platinuming the game that it didn’t feel enjoyable.
How can anyone defend this? I was against it when Xbox did it and I’m against it now. Sony, straighten up and stop acting high and mighty. There is no need to punish your fans for your success.
Obviously CD projekt red is going to do an amazing job. They’re a great dev team. This game just doesn’t look like my cup of tea. I hope a lot of people enjoy it though.
Honestly I feel sorry for people that take offense to this type of shit. Walking down the street must be a chore getting offended everywhere.

Not gonna lie out of all the games Sony showed, this was by far the most impressive. I didn’t want that trailer to end. It looked amazing.
Nah just literally any article that hails Microsoft or Nintendo as anything positive is attacked immediately. I respect that some people thought Sony’s e3 was good though, games that were shown will definitely be purchases in the future. The conference structure was terrible, I’m not really sure how anyone enjoyed the intermission. All in all, I just wish Sony fans would hop off other fans, they all act like children who don’t want to let other people like anything else.
It’s so sad that I love Sony and their games so much but their fans are the worst of the bunch. Sony had an awful e3, they didn’t announce anything we didn’t already know about. It was all just new gameplay of games we’ve already seen. Those games looked great but if there’s one thing I can say about their conference and reveals, it wasn’t better than Microsoft’s. Here come the Sony fans claiming they had the best conference even though it was awful. I was really excited for Sony since I own more Sony things than anything else (PS4 plus vr) but damn they disappointed me so badly. Nintendo wasn’t great but it at least gave me a few surprises. Halo 5 wasn’t bad and there are still a lot of people still playing it. The campaign definitely wasn’t the best but the multiplayer is really fun.
Seriously? Horizon? It’s not even the same genre of game. Pokémon switching up their combat would demolish the entire system they’ve worked so hard to form. That’s like saying Uncharted should try and tackle an open world RPG, it just doesnt seem right. As long as they make a beautiful Pokémon game with god help me no z-moves (plz I hate z moves) I will be happy.

It has a 94 or 9.4 on metacritic. A 9.5 would slightly raise the average..
I’m a Nintendo fan and I still think this is the best game of the year by far. It’s up there in my favorite games from this console generation, like Breath of the Wild. This game doesn’t deserve anything below a 9. I’ve had various glitches that haven’t been game breaking but I’ve had to restart from checkpoints a lot. I still would give the game a 10, I would give it an 11 if I could.
Graphics are starting to hit a halt in the realism factor due to games already becoming somewhat hyper realistic. There’s only so far we can go. They still look a hell of a lot better than last gen though.. compare any game of a franchise from this gen to last gen and you’ll see great improvements.
The big leap in graphics imo is the revolution of VR this generation. We’ve basically started over on that front, and VR games generally look like something between ps2 and ps3....
Today in the news: Grass is green. I'd love to see what a worthwhile dev could do with Star Wars. What's even more depressing is how beautiful the new battlefront series actually is. Looking at screenshots or even gameplay, the game is gorgeous. Unfortunately the gameplay is dull and repetitive with a single player mode that was painful to complete.
