Be careful what you ask for.
If we get games costing 20$-40$ brand new, I am pretty sure Disc-Locked Content and week 1 DLC will make up for it.
The developer of course will say "its optional" or cut content and save it for a pre-order bonus/"season pass".
To a degree. But I would hate for everygame to go free to play aka pay to win.
Even if games were cheaper, I would still purchaseused games. Not everyone has a budget to get every game, so some "gems" get passed by.
Fast forward 2 years, and that "gem" is nearly impossible to find brand new. A publisher only prints out so many games especially if its a niche game.
I gotta a feeling...Renting game will be strictly digital i.e. sorta how PS+ works and software has an expiration date.
All this "contempt" will lead to mass modding of consoles.
My magic eightball says Xbox1 will be hacked in less than a year. Someone, will figure out how to use a proxy, then clone the MAC address of the console, and tell the MS server - nothing new has happened.
MS then will try and combat this technique via patches and hackers will continue to circumvent. The only way around this is by storing save games strictly on cloud servers.
Nah - I bet online passes are here to stay. Now EA on the other hand will nickel and dime you.
I feelbad for gamers, that can't afford every new game. Now little Johny won't be able to trade games with his friend.
Let alone Ebay and Gamestop profits will sink like a mutha.
Yea, but then you piss off the big publishers like EA and Activision.
No Madden/FIFA/CallofDuty/Battlef ield/somestupiddancegame = Console suicide. Look what happened to the Dreamcast.
I completely agree...But then it comes to who matters most...The gamer or the publisher?
No publisher = no games = no gamers. In the end, gamers lose. If games are still 60$ and still get shipped with ON DISK/DAY 1, I might go PC all the way next gen.
I agree completely. Its a catch 22.
If the Ps4 sells more because this, publishers will have no choice to focus on it. Also Xbox, states they are leaving the "choice" up to the publisher....This makes no sense since Xbox had a mandatory 24-hr check in!
On the other hand, if publishers like this agreement as it increases revenue(lesss used games), why make games for the ps4 if people can still play used game.
Honestly, I don't s...
Level 5 stopped supporting the game and the DLC eventually stopped flowing. In a Online RPG, you have to keep supplying end game content.
People will get bored eventually and wander off to another game. Let alone the grind in WKC was astronomical for someone to get to the top guild rank.
^^^^
If you want those game to last longer, you have to support the game in someway, be it renting servers or microtransactions.
If the demands not there, there is no sense in supplying.
I agree however servers cost money. You have to pay for the power, bandwidth, and manpower to maintain them.
Eventually a game will get to such a low userbase, that there are more benefits to just shutting it down. I personally think white Knight could of lasted a bit longer due to micro transactions. Unfortunately Level 5 stopped supporting the game way too early.
You won't be able to platinum as some trophies are online only.
Majie - Last I played was Febuary 2013.
It wasn't nessecarily dead- but there was alot of infighting between players. The main arguement was the use of mods (supposedly modified via a gameshark-like device).
Since Level 5 basicially stopped supporting the game early 2012. It was like the wild west. You would go party up with people, and everyonce in a while you would get a guy one-shotting end game bosses.
After seeing how much hardwork...
They do have alot of MS ads, especially on their sistersite "theverge.com".
I visited the website to give "polygon" the benefit of the doubt.
After all its a free world right? (well mostly..)
They can give whatever score they want, however when you compare their reviews with other games in the genre i.e. resident evil revelations the same score (an upscaled 3ds port)- you have to wonder why? Well it was a different reviewer so be it.
Then you look at the person reviewing the game, and see what else reviews ...
..and ironically, you were trolling on PS3 fanboys, defending the 360.
Technically they announced "Fantasty Football to stream statistics while watching an NFL game".
With the rise of people watching TV and movies at home while researching the show via a tablet or smartphone - Its not really that impressive as it will block part of my TV view area.
I see them doing this, as they stopped implementing online passes. Of coarse, they could then make exclusive day-1 DLC only available for new purchases.
I am sure Capcom will continue with its Disk Locked content, them greedy bastards.
Why not create your own game engine that simplfies this? EA is saving alot by nearly all their games running off Frostbite.
