"Newnormative glorifies poor analysis"
Ah, wonderful. I see the internet jury is out in full force today to proclaim guilt. We don't need to observe the difference between harassment and assault, and as we all know, the more adjectives you use, the more righteous your resolve.
Good. Video games should be art, or competitive fun, and not disguised slot machines.
I think this article goes wrong in trying to impose the author's ill-informed notion of morality on a game, failing to consider the context. And thus, I'm exercising my ability to "call it out", because if I've taken one thing away from it, it is that I should spend my day going around as a sort of moral guardian, dictating to others what they ought to do to be more virtuous, but never questioning my own exemplary behaviour (as the world revolves around me, I don't n...
No way. It has the worst turn-based battle of the series.
I thought the story was OK and music great, but it was ruined by awful battles.
The old ATB system was far better.
If they didn't want people to use it, they shouldn't have put it in. Even still, battles were tediously slow, and overall, the game was boring as hell due to the constant fear of entering another battle (It'd be more interesting to just watch an advertisement).
I recently played FF4 and 6 for the first time. In terms of gameplay, these blow FF13 out of the water.
Final Fantasy 13 is by far the worst game in the FF series, and anyone who likes ...
You go through corridors and then just mash a single button in every battle. The gameplay was awful - among the worst I've ever experienced. The OST was good, however, but it would be better to just think of it as a movie with a subpar plot and outstanding music.
Yeah, well I had a billion pre-orders, which I just canceled due to this article. Who is the more morally pure one now? Me, that's who.
Get this politicised nonsense off of N4G.
But you seem to be.
You know as well as I do that games which made a point about focusing on the opposite demographic would be criticised.
Ideally, this would not be the case (and if your argument is genuine, you must agree with me), but it is.
And so in order to keep incentives balanced, there must be equal criticism of all demographic choices, which leads to devs not being bullied into doing any one thing more than another, thus resulting in a more balanced and free video ...
I never understand this type of comment, because it doesn't actually address the point raised. If someone says something is bad, to try and rebut them by saying that someone has a "right to do it" is a bizarre thing to say, because it does not conflict with the original point.
For example, if I say "Coca Cola is bad for you", and you say "people have a right to drink Coca Cola", we see how ridiculous this becomes, because I never said that ...
Disney lost their right to determine canon when they declared that KotOR was not canon. Screw them, and screw their new movies.
In the UK (where Playtonic is based), if you fire someone for their political beliefs, you can be sued for unfair dismissal. HOWEVER, this only applies to employees, and it seems that JonTron was almost certainly a contractor, so he's not protected.
But if one of their employees said this, they would be breaking the law by firing them.
Someone appears to misunderstand the concept of freedom of speech.
I mean by your definition, Saudi Arabia has freedom of speech. You can say whatever you want in Saudi Arabia, including blasphemy. But you know, free speech does not make you immune to the consequences, so they'll execute you for that. #dealwithit
He may not be the smartest person in the world, but what he said is not without merit.
Maybe it's different in the USA, but here in Europea, attitudes to immigration are broadly similar to the views he expressed. Perhaps because America is a country with an immigrant history, things are viewed differently.
But I mean, if you actually want to trace the philosophy underpinning what he is saying, you can go back to Aristotle and Plato. Really, it's a...
They wouldn't be saying that if an SJW who was sacked for ranting about social justice. Also, his views are the norm here in Europe - not controversial at all.
Here in the U.K. it is illegal for private firms to fire people for holding religious or philosophical beliefs (or a lack thereof).
The thing is that when businesses start using their money to decide what speech makes someone unemployable, you really don't have free speech any more. Sure, they can demand their employees do as they say when at work, but private lives really should be ignored by businesses.
Because it is full of poorly-informed analysis aimed at pushing an IDEOLOGY.
There is no objectivity or attempt to entertain whatsoever. The entire purpose is to infect the minds of readers with a political point.
And so there's no way in hell this should be allowed on a "news site", because it just doesn't show enough impartiality. Or to gain clicks by upsetting people.
