What I find appalling is that this article is mixing private advocacy with someone's career.

It's like what the feminists do when they try to get people fired for holding anti-feminist views, and it's sickening.

Democracy only works when people are free to speak their mind politely without repercussions to their health or income. That means that so long as people do not bring this activism with them into their work without permission from their em...

Seems to be a hit piece aimed at trying to get someone fired for opinions they hold privately.

"Avoid offence"

Lol

This video offends me. It sounds like she's advocating for Ubisoft-isation.

Porn is a human right. Sony should be ashamed.

Sales figures reveal little on whether a game met expectations. Most people bought it based on expectations. I know I did.

All reviews, Steam and otherwise seem to indicate that the game was good, but that it was a bit disappointing; that it did not meet expectations.

I'm surprised anyone disagrees with that.

Now imagine how many they would have sold if the game met expectations...

Please, enough with the feminist "articles" on N4G. If I want an opinion rammed down my throat, I'll just sit in on my local church service.

Stories do need attention, but so do soundtracks, which are often ignored in Western games.

Undertale was great not because of story alone, nor because of its soundtrack. It was great because the story and soundtrack were together memorable, and really complemented each other.

This relationship is what modern games are missing, as most of them tack on some bland atmospheric soundtrack without really trying to evoke anything in the player.

Consoles are only relevant because their mass production allows better value than most PCs, while they tend to be easier to use, which makes gaming generally easier to set up.

However, PCs have now become immensely easy to use with services such as Steam, while mass production of the same system is technically possible, and would allow cheap prices while also allowing games to optimise (you might see an "Xbox" setting).

The one remaining issue would...

I think Microsoft just don't want to hand over 30% of their revenue to Valve.

Which is fair enough, given they already have their own platform.

You might find that this becomes the last Xbox "console", and the next generation of the machine instead acts as a mass-produced easy-to-use PC of sorts, allowing better value, and to play the same games as on PC, just with a heavily optimised "Xbox" preset graphics setting.

Whether or not this works depends on Microsoft's approach to it. I wonder if they'll allow Steam by just giving it Windows 10, or if they'll force buyers to use the Windows...

Diversity = women + minorities

Homogeneity/pure evil = white men

Team with Russian, American, French, Italian men = homogenous and "toxic"

Team with only American women = diverse and "progress"

Welcome to "enlightened" 2016 people.

I've looked through your link, and see no study suggesting empirically that games in developed countries sell roughly as many copies where there is no piracy as when there is.

You can't throw out a page with irrelevant numbers which support your bias and say "here's the data".

Where's your evidence to back this up? How do you know the circumstances and nature of "most people"?

3642d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

And how many sales would it have had with DRM? Probably more.

You can't toss out figures like that with no benchmark. What we know for a fact is that some people would have bought the game if they could not have pirated it.
