I feel sad for Nintendo. They have some great IPs, make great games, but just doesn't have the resources MS or sony has.
I hope Wii U does well. it certainly looked like it was doing well at launch, but fizzled out due to no games.

This is likely by far the least loss any console manufacturer has taken in across a generation.
Remember when the PS3 was reportedly loosing $200-300 per console sold, or that Xbox 360 was around $150-200?
Profit comes later when the platform is established. This is the same every generation.
Actually, the PS4 is concentrated in the North America region, as it hasn't released in other regions. Whereas Xbox One is released in 13 markets.
Both PS4 and Xbox One sold 1 million console each at launch, so of course retailers in the US will sell more PS4 games. There are simply more PS4 in North America than Xbox One due to the allocation.

You can always dial down to reach 1080p. Hell, even Xbox 360 and PS3 is capable of 1080p if you dial down the pixel quality enough.
Fact of the matter, is most people can't tell difference between 720p and 1080p, let alone 900p. Point being, I'm glad Crytek focused on pixel quality that is best experience for gamers instead of focusing on pissing contest brought forward by fangirls.

Sold more than many hardcore games ip. In short, there is plenty of IP even stuff that doesn't necessariliy appeal to core gamers.
The game play mechanics of Gears single and multiplayer was the best game last generation sans maybe CoD.
For the love of God, please make a sequel even though it would be hard to continue after Gears 3.
I freaken hate prequels, and although Gears Judgment was good, prequels just don't do it for me.
I really miss Gears multiplayer and it is too bad the community isn't larger online now, 2-years after Gears of War 3 release.
Actually the smart choice is a Xbox 360 or PS3 with it's most likely discounted price this holiday and a library with so much quality games nobody can match.
That said, Nintendo is finally releasing some quality titles for the Wii U and with Nintendo's franchises, there is denying there will be plenty of family fun to be had.
That said, I can enjoy my Xbox 360 piped through my Xbox One for all the next generation features if needed. Win-win!

Japanese might not warm up to Xbox One, but surely the west can play Japanese games!
Also, MS partnership in Japan during the Xbox 360 brought forward some of the best Japanese games during last generation.

Developers work on both consoles early on and people always talk.
MS valued their strategy of all in one entertainment more than a console strictly devoted to pushing pixels. MS ran with it, and Sony ran their way.

The licensing fee is tiny, and the main win is from blu-ray disc sales from Sony Pictures and not the licensing.
It is not intended to be open to public, so there is an expectation that kids don't go in and start trying out codes.
